BT connection problems

My laptop is equipped with BT.
I have connected module TRONISOFT 9751 with cable correctly but unfortunately the

laptop fails to connect with the BTLink.
The blue light in the BTLink always flashes….
Papywizard connection says (look snapx.jpg).
I have to use the address of BT manager (snap4)
What can I do?

Regards

Antonio

Re: BT connection problems

It may be that your BT adapter acts as a virtual serial port?

MY USB Bluenext BN-O1 BT adapter does when using the serial profile of BT.

Looking at a your screen shots it appears to be set to COM40.

Try configuring Papywizard to use COM40 (enter 39, it counts from zero for COM, or COM40) with a serial connection.

Did you also reprogram the BTLink adapter to set the baud rate to 9600?

Re: BT connection problems

Additional question - which version of Windows are you using?

I have used both Windows 2000 Pro with SP4 and Windows XP with SP3.

Windows XP has built-in Bluetooth support - and you should use that rather than other BT software - I tried using the Blueoleil software that came with my adapter under XP and 2000 and it didn't work (perhaps because I wasn't sure what I was doing?) but standard Windows XP BT driver was fine.

Windows 2000 does not have built-in support for Bluetooth and I suggest you try the Widcomm BT drivers if your BT software is not working.

Re: BT connection problems

If you get "SERIAL AXIS 1 CAN'T SEND COMMAND" error, it means that the BT connection is OK, but there is a problem with the Merlin communication (either a TTL-interface issue, or a baud rate issue).

The other error is not from Papywizard...

It is usually - in my experience - because the baud rate has not been set to 9600 in the BTLink RS232-BT adapter OR because the slide switch on the BTLink is still set to DCE and should be set to the opposite side/end when BTLink is attached to the Tronisoft RS232-TTL module.

The switch does need to be set to DCE when programing the baud rate etc.  with the BTLink attached to a serial port on PC, but the slide switch needs to be at (unmarked) DTE position (the other way) when The BTLink is attached to the Tronisoft module on the Merlin head.

No, no no.... see this documentation:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/c … DAPTOR.pdf

COM40 relates to the virtual port of your built-in BT device in your PC. when running in serial profile.

The COM port value to program the BTLink when it is attached to he PC will be COM1 or COM2 I expect - try both.

Fiirst select Get adapter info (if it can't read the adapter info then change the COM port from, for example, COM1 to COM2 and try again) - then change the baud rate - the select Program adapter.

Once you have programmed the baud rate (to 9600) then remove the BTLink from the real serial port on your PC, disconnect the power adapter from from it, slide the switch away from the DCE position and then connect it to the Tronsift module and attach the assembly to the Merlin head.

Then on your PC check that the BT COM40 virtual serial port is active.

Are you running Papywizard on your PC or on a Nokia Tablet? Or both?

Then run Papywizard, in Configure/Hardware set up the serial connection on COM40.

Then in Paywizard main screen (click in the top bar if on Nokia and) choose Hardware/Connect.

At some point you will get asked for a password - enter '1234',  unless you chnaged it when pogramming the BTLink.

You will see in the status bar at the bottom of the Papywizard window that Papywizard is attempting - and I hope succeeds - to establish a connection with the head and will report if it does so or will revert to simulation mode after displaying an error box.

Do let us know how you get on.

Good luck.

Re: BT connection problems

Hi Antonio,

First at all... you should connect the BT device "directly" to one Serial port of your PC and to the power supply delivered in the kit .
I mean that the BT device should be connected "without" the RS232 Tronisoft module !!!

If you don't have a Serial port but only USB ports on your PC, you will need a "USB to serial adaptor" (commonly available in all the PC's Shop's. (exemple : http://www.tronisoft.com/2455.php

Then follow all the steps described into the small manual written by Mediavets and myselve:

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/c … DAPTOR.pdf

Good luck .
