Surprenant, imposant, un peu mystérieux, intrigant, THE VOLCANO est un des nombreux trésors que contient la formidable région d'Escalante - GRAND STAIRCASE NATIONAL MONUMENT, en Utah. Il faut juste faire 16km à pied en plein wilderness pour pouvoir le découvrir. C'est un lieu très méconnu, et on y rencontre pas grand monde (personne en fait 
).
Surprising, big, a little mysterious, intrigant, THE VOLCANO is one of the many treasures in the formidable area of Escalante - GRAND STAIRCASE NATIONAL MONUMENT, Utah. It is just necessary to walk 16km into wilderness to be able to discover it. It is a very ignored place, and there's very few people here (nobody in fact ).

Pour une fois, j'ai une référence humaine sur un des panos (le 4ième) qui montre la taille du monstre.
For once, I have a human reference on one of the panos (the 4th) which shows the size of the monster.

4th picture from top: Just beautiful, like a natural, zen garden. At first I thought the bright orange material was a calm reflection of some murky opaque liquid. This is another good example that it is necessary to include at least one photo in the set with someone or thing for size reference. Even on a very large computer monitor, one simply cannot appreciate the true size without a reference.
You previously wrote in a different message: "la grandeur provient de la difficulté" ("the greatness comes from the difficulty"). If translated correctly, this reminds me of another saying: "suffering for one's art". Many, many years ago, I visited Cambodia's temples in the hot and humid jungles. To add Hollywood-drama to the photos, I wore a hellishly uncomfortable explorers hat. Unfortunately, too many people remember the photos of the hat I was wearing rather than the magnificent temples.

oui, mais là ce sont les versions finales... tout bien préparées, et avec une meilleurs gestion des ancres... La sélection est aussi plus grande... A l'époque, sur place, j'avais pas tout calculé... Dans ces nouveaux post, il y aura beaucoup plus de panos, que je n'avais pas montré à l'époque... Hier, par exemple, pour un seul lieu, j'ai plus de 50 panos. Je ne sais pas si Ma va supporter le choc 
Je vais tout remettre, classé par lieux, contrairement à tout mettre dans un post unique, comme la dernière fois...

Yep, I realized these things on closer examination when I first viewed the photo yesterday. When photos make me take a more detailed look a second or third time, then that is a sign of a good photo. I look forward to more of your images.

Volcano: no, no, no! what is it really ?
I searched the web but didn't find a reference. I doubt this hole have volcanic origine, I doubt the wind did it (but why not after all) and the place looks distant from any river. The large rock in the hole suggest a meteorite but no... Final bet: a former river did it.

Effectivement Gurl, le coin n'a rien de volcanique (encore qu'il y a parfois une fine couche très noire et très légère, non visible sur mes panos)...
Et ce... trou n'est pas un volcan, mais c'est son nom dans le coin.
Comment il a été fait, ben c'est assez simple je pense. Comme pour la majorité des formations spectaculaires du coin (arches, bridges, hoodoos, vagues, etc), c'est dame nature qui a forgé cela avec ses petites mimines d'eau, de vent, de neige, de gel, etc... Et comme la roche est friable (sandstone) -> ca creuse facilement...
Et que tu n'ais rien trouvé sur le web ne m'étonnes pas trop, car très très peu de sites en parle... (le coin est encore inconnu, et pas mal de bouquins même spécialisé n'en parle même pas) . Ce sont des allemands (grand spécialistes de l'ouest des USA) qui ont mis une page sur ce lieu incroyable :

Tu as raison taf… il semble que le peux d'infos sur ce site géographique te places en photographe d'exception …
Quand on regarde google maps et les images du coin ou les infos wikipedia, il y en a tellement peu que tes images seront les premières sur panoramio… le site des photos de google… c'est et ça sera ton choix
être le premier ne signifie pas rendre le lieu touristique…
