APP open talk on IRC - DALnet #app

Sometimes chatting on forums is not enough. Using one of many IRC clients, you can chat with other APP users in real time using Internet Relay Chat, or IRC for short.

In order to do this follow these steps:

1- download an IRC client (which is a piece of software that lets users like us talk on IRC). There are many free clients for all platforms. For Windows I recommend KVIrc, X-Chat 2, ChatZilla (Firefox required), or Miranda IM. For Linux I recommend Konversation, XChat, IRSSI or ChatZilla (Firefox required). For Mac OS X users the same suggestions apply as for Linux users. The Opera web browser also has native IRC support.
2- Connect to a Freenode server. Type /server chat.freenode.net
3- Join the #autopano channel. Type /join #autopano

That's it. If any other APP user is online, you can text chat, ask for help, offer support, transfer files in real time, etc.

Tools > Mail and Chat Accounts, "Do you want to create one now?" click on yes, choose IRC, and enter your details in there:
Real Name: can be anything, i usually enter my nick in there
Email adress: anything, doesnt have to be real
Nick: whatever
Choose IRC network: DALnet (anyone should do), or manually enter irc.dal.net
Thats it :]

I also see that KVIRC is available for MacOSX so if you dont use Opera for browsing and you downloaded it especially for IRC, I would recommend a dedicated IRC client instead of Opera, like KVIRC.
