gigapan import problem

Hi everyone. I recently bought a motorized panoramic head that takes it's series of images in a grid sequence not avaliable in the import settings. I have made two images to show both ways my motorized head can shoot the sequence of images. I am just curious if there is a way to add this type of shoot layout my gigapan plugin window?

Re: gigapan import problem

which head? does it Support XML file creation? no, than very simple solution:
download papywizard connect in dummy mode to create a dummy XML file following your Shooting pattern (first one is Default, second can be set by Option).
use than this dummy XML file (just use the correct overlap and cam data from your real Hardware) and use the papywizard Import filter

Then you could control it with Papywizard and that has an APP/APG Import Wizard that can cope with any shooting pattern using the XML data file generated while shooting.

Re: gigapan import problem

Are there any links to this technique you are talking about? Ideally I would not want to take a laptop with me to control the head. Especially when I paid so much for it to be automated anyway. Since I am quite new to the automated way of shooting panoramic images I am quite ignorant about xml data and etc.

I've no idea about the allview... I use the Merlin...
papywizard Software: http://www.papywizard.org/
and you need some sort of Bluetooth dongle between the head and the Notebook, like (for Merlin head):

Papywizard is an Open Source, cross-platform, free program that runs on MacOSX, Windows, Linux and the Nokia N800 and N810 Internet Tablets.

You can install and run the Papywizard software without it being connected to a robotic mount (in simulation mode) if you wish to get a feel for how it operates.

Download the latest development version for your chosen platform.

Papywizard can record the shooting positions at which images are shot during a panorama shoot in an XML format data file.

The APP/APG Papywizard Import wizard (and PTGui pro) can use that data to assist the stitching software in placing images that may be 'featureless' (plain blue sky images or images of white wall and ceilings, for example) which would other be omitted from the stitch.

Especially when I paid so much for it to be automated anyway. Since I am quite new to the automated way of shooting panoramic images I am quite ignorant about xml data and etc.

Did you read the topic about the Allview on the forum?:

Re: gigapan import problem

I did not read the posts about the allview in the forum. I have just found out there is a section dedicated to the mount which is fantastic! I have since discovered that the Align to Grid feature in PTGui works flawlessly with the image sequence I shot with my motorized head. I must admit I purchased the allview for its versatility from doing panoramic images to HDR timelapse and video slewing to get smooth camera moves for my videography.

I personally want to thank everyone in the forum I have solved my problem in less than a day and I have you guys to thank smile

I downloaded and looked at the papywizard software and it looks very interesting and I was wondering if i can program slew operations in that software? For example I would like my allview to move 720 degrees on its heading and say 60 degrees on its pitch. Would I be able to program a movment like that in Papywizard?
