PW-xml import fails

Hi!

0) i set APG-prefs to 35mm
1) importing PW-XML
2) importing the images
3) APG says that xml-focal doesn´t match lens focal.
4) xml focal says 35mm
5) APG-import focal says 49mm
6) i set "use xml-focal"
7) set all values as i always do
8) can´t start the import. "proceed" keeps grey. No way.
9) I´m really pissed using Windows.

On Mac everything works as it´s supposed to.

Any idea?

best, Klaus

I failed to make a screenshot on Win7 - on mac it´s cmd+shift+3.

Re: PW-xml import fails

while selecting the Images... most common error here is selecting more or less Images than written in the XML file. the missing/wrong focal has not Impact on that. (I know this very exact because I use the Manual Samyang 8mm Fisheye with no exifs...)

apg 3.0.3 or 3.0.4 using?
Georg

PS: Screenshot: use in upper right area of Keyboard the "Druck / S-Abf" Key. Press it once, than open your Image program and do CRTL/STRG + V for insert...

the number of selected images is correct. as i said: on my Mac it works perfect.

Shift+Print Screen should copy a  screenshot to the Clipboard from where you can paste it into your graphics editor.

Errrr.. don't think so...do you mean that this renaming occurs when 'importing' the images from a memory card, or what?

I am confused now.hmm

I am confused now.hmm

I connected the camera (card reader is in the car with my assistant) via USB and a message occured which asked me to import the images to xxx (forgot it).
I stated that and they were in the "private pictures" folder (forgot the name).
Here they were named "001, 002 . . . ". I don´t know such things from Mac.

best, Klaus

PS - right now i´m re-installing APG 3.0.4 on the PC - just for sure . . cool

Did the pictures import on Mac - they keep the correct names.

Re: PW-xml import fails

ok - i´m back on PC after re-installing APG 3.0.4.

Imported the images on Mac and copied them via a stickt to the PC. Names are correct.

PW-import crashes APG the moment i push "proceed" ("weiter").

All settings in the import window are corect now:
xml says 47images, 35mm
APG says 47images, 35mm
I set all follwing values as always and hit "weiter": crashes. Sent the crash-report for the second time.

(still didn´t manage to make a screenshot).

best, Klaus

Don´t want to use a graphic editor just to do a screenshot . javascript:insert_text ('roll',%20'');. . (don´t icons work on Windows? - tried to place a smiley by clicking on it)
I´m on Firefox . . strange bowser . .

Re: PW-xml import fails

I tried several times now to use the PW-import under Win7. In the moment i hit "weiter" (proceed) the app crashes and the crash-dialogue appeares.

Going back to Mac again. Here it works fine as ever.

best, Klaus

PS: did you all use the PW import in 3.0.4 with xml? Does it work?

Re: PW-xml import fails

in such cases I NEVER use the Import Option given, I allways use the "open device to view files" so I can decide myself what to do with my Images..
I'm not Aware that Windows itself is renaming.
It could be the case that the file ending is associated with an program that is doing the renaming....

... yes using 3.0.4 apg - but on win8 64 bit.

Hi Georg!

I imported the images on Mac and copied them to the PC. Names are correct. But as i said: the PW importer crashes when i did all settings - coorectly - and start the import.

Now: i have two versions of the NVida driver - one for the FX 460 card and one for the Quadro card. I have the FX card in the machine.

Could that make the PW importer crash when it starts the import?

As said already: on Mac the PW-import works fine and fast. The editor shows already well placed images - RMS 2. Optimizing some images (white walls and celings) manually makes it RMS 1.2 and the rendering is very quick and very good - 700mpx.

best, Klaus

Re: PW-xml import fails

Hi Klaus
Why you are using a PC if you are working with Macs so long ?
It's not easy to change from PC to Mac, but the other way ... wink

On a Windows system having the correct drivers installed is essentially.
So uninstall the wrong driver, and then reinstall the correct driver again,
all with admin privileges.

But I don't think, this is the root for your issue.
What is the name and file extensions of your input images?
Have these files complied with the correct naming conventions for Windows?
What kind of other photo software is installed on this PC ?

Are you loading RAW files ? So have you installed the needed codec packs?

Martin

Because i would need to buy a new - and at about 900.-€ -graphic card for my Mac only to use APG in GPU-mode . . . All other programs run well.
As soon as i use "GPU-mode" with or without "old graphic card" it´s getting EXTREMLY slow and the editor shows a mess - though the card passes the APG-test without problems.
It´s a Radeon X1900 (which was rather expensive 5-6 years ago as Mac-version).

I installed the Quadro-card´s driver after the FX-card´s driver was in the system already. It´s said i can use several cards in the PC at the same time!?

No RAWs. I used processed JPGs - processed them in Photomatix (did that before vers. 3.0.4 without issues)
file-extensions are correct.

They run without issues with APG 3.0.4 on Mac!

I´ll run another test today. We´ll see.

best and thanks, Klaus

True, multiple, cards can be configured using SLI if your PC has suitable PCie slots and an adequate power supply. But APP/APG will currently only make use of one graphics card.

No lens-EXIFs. But camera-EXIFs.

Besides: missing lens-EXIFs never was an issue. And it isn´t an issue with APG on Mac actually.
