I like the idea as it show clearer which panos have been edited and which not.
I think the moment the editor is closed is good moment to make a small version.
It would also be nice that when just loaded one or more panoramas, one gets to see this small preview again. Maybe after pressing a button but automaticly has my preference. As APG crashes a lot it  would help to see how far one was.
