Can I use Autopano Pro with a semi-fisheye lens?

Hello, APP World! smile

I'm evaluating Autopano Pro 3.0.0 Beta 1, and I'm wondering if I can use it to stitch a 360º panorama from pictures taken with a Raynox HD-3035PRO / HD-3032 semi-fisheye lens.

I took 8 pictures with that lens and a Canon Powershot G9. If I just import them and create a panorama, the software reads the Exif info and interpret them as having a 33.72mm focal length (35mm eq.), which produces a panorama with each image distorted (as seen on the last picture below).

I've tried changing the focal length from 33.72mm to 10.11mm and 14.16mm (according to the 0.3x and 0.42x magnification specs), and also tried changing the lens type from normal to fisheye... but the results just got worse.

I used a Panossaurus head to take the 8 pictures below.

Any ideas of what I might be doing wrong? And how to do it right?

Thank you! smile

Edit: added more pictures, the first one was produced by PTGui.

interesting...
can you upload some resized jpgs to this forum... keep exifs if pssible
would be interesting to play with.
Georg

PS: in case you did choose fisheye... in image properties you than get a new tab "circular crop". so reduce the circle so the image does no longer contain the black parts....

Thanks, Georg! Yes, I've been there, done that.

On another note: I just installed PTGui, and it made a perfect stitch on my first try! big_smile

I was using Hugin before (not with this lens, though), but it recently started showing problems on my Windows machine ("make: permission denied" errors), so I don't know how it would perform in this case.

I'll try to add some pictures to the first message in this thread.

Re: Can I use Autopano Pro with a semi-fisheye lens?

Dear Kolor Team,

I used autopano 2.6 .... and the images above got recognized as
2,22mm 4.557 G9 1,00 = 10,12mm FISCHEYE
and I got a decent detected panorama

with autopano 3.0 beta 1 ... and the above images I got
7,4mm 4.557 G9 1,00 = 33,72mm STANDARD
and I got a less decent - aka none - panorama (even after fiddling with CPs about 20minutes! and disabling all kind of automatism)

can you have a look & test with the beta1 - is it the unusual cam&lens combo & used settings or is it the beta1 having issues here?

(PS: I used in both cases 7 images, the 8th is a double I did not use)

Liebe Gruesse,
Georg
