On the Announcements section of this forum and introducing Autopano v3.0.0 Alpha 1,

New projection modes
This feature has been asked for several times. It is now done. It took a while because we needed to rewrite some parts of the code that were not compatible with some projections. That's why it was only introduced in a major release and not a minor one; we had to rewrite the projection pipeline of our engine.
Nevertheless, it is worth the wait, because when it is combined with the GPU rendering in the editor, you have the perfect experience for the choice of the right projection. This can be critical if you have an exact idea of what you want but don't know what to do to get to it.
One note: it took us a while to design a nice projection UI, especially how to create and design good icons for the projection modes. I'm waiting for your feedback on these icons. I find them cool because it is a combination of cube faces and mapping, giving a good understanding in both lectures.
I would like to congratulate the development team for this achievement! The UI is impressive and the use is intuitive. The icons are indeed a very smart and concise invention. In short: the UI is IMHO quasi-perfect.
The selection of output panorama projection is intelligent: I am grateful for the introduction of some interesting projections (e.g. Pannini) and I particularly welcome the rather unexpected Orthographic and Mirror Ball.
After Renan's presentation and description of the challenge that Kolor's team has been facing, I am reluctant to confess that I still miss Equidistant and Equi-Solid Angle and even more to admit that I got mildly infuriated not to have the Stereographic projection made available...

Actually, stereographic is hidden under "little planet". Little planet is a stereographic projection combined with rotation. So activate little planet and check "keep horizon" option, you will have the stereographic.
We choose to expose little planet name which is more asked.
I noticed the other projections in the wish list.

Thanks. I had been mistaken by the (well known) casual name. I am sorry to have asked before checking more thoroughly.
BTW to digress about projection vocabulary: Flexify 2 http://www.flamingpear.com/flexify.html from Flaming Pears is a specialty software that is almost 100% dedicated to transformation of projection. Its list of output projections is probably the more comprehensive amongst all software (>150). Many projections are here preferably called by "casual nickname" but Ironically, Stereographic is on the list while Little Planet is a separate permanent tool "button". I have just checked that this tool button gives the same result as Stereographic does from the (pull down menu) list ![]()
"Equidistant" is used by Flaming Pears to name the Equirectangular a.k.a. Plate Carrée projection whereas they use "Polar" or "Azimuthal Equidistant" to name the fisheye equidistant projection ![]()
Best,
Michel
