Softness progressively worsening with each new version.

Hi,

First of all I'm thinking Kolor is doing a great job with autopano. It's getting better with every update except for absolute sharpness. I'm seeing a drop in sharpness ass the version progress. I'm re-rendering old panos with improved raw processing in Adobe Raw and applying the haze-removal-plugin where suited. Overall the rendering look nice but when viewing them at 100% they look softer as the APG version progresses.

The softness of the APG 2.6.0 file is correctible in photoshop to some extend but a file from APG 2.6.2RC1 is not. I've tries all possible settings. Setting multiblend to -10 improves sharpness but does not blend nice.

Here is an example: 100% crops of 360º pano. First APG v2.09 smartblend (best), then APG v2.6.0 multiblend -4, then APG v2.6.2RC1 multiblend -10 and then APG v2.6.2RC1 multiblend -4 (worst)

Re: Softness progressively worsening with each new version.

Issue 1142 opened.

Hum sad After checking, it seems to be the new blending engine used in 2.6.1 for 360° edge that is creating this issue.
If you make the comparison on a non 360° panorama, it is just the same in 2.6.1. On 2.6.0, the rendering is more sharp as it still use the old 360° edge blending technic.

Re: Softness progressively worsening with each new version.

If I remember correctly I only got soft images when rendering 360's. I'l have to test it to be shure.

Yes, Ronald, you are right, only in 360° cases and only with 2.6.1 version.

Re: Softness progressively worsening with each new version.

I just upgraded to 2.6.1 today and am too finding the softness of the image to be too much. I tried sharpening in Photoshop afterwards but its still losing too much detail. Its noticeably worse than my previous experience with 2.6.0. Is there a fix? Do I just need to uninstall 2.6.1 and install 2.6.0 instead for the time being?

Re: Softness progressively worsening with each new version.

Just use the 2.6.0 for one week. We'll come soon with a 2.6.2 RC2 with a fix for the softness.
