Fish eye will destroyes quality, nikon 14-24 is the  sharpest Wide angle. What size do you think would be the best compromise for a quick loading time and a really sharp and nice quality ?

Nikon´s 14-24mm is an excellent lens. But not for pano.

The best compromise for quick loading time and excellent quality is a good fisheye on a fullframe camera.

For a DX Nikon the definitely best lens for panos is the 10,5mm fisheye. I did this one with a Canon 20D and 10,5mm Nikon fisheye:

I didn´t sent you a file - just postet a link to the pano.

The Zuerichbar.html as a pano has about 6MB completely. It´s 10000x5000px.

The blurryness is the movement of people in the crowd, not of the camera itself, this would only be avoided by cranking up the iso and introducing more noise, or shooting in better light. The 20D is 8MP vs the 12MP of your D90, so you would indeed have a little more resolution (~50%) if you shot the same sceen. Of course the file size would then increase accordingly

I assume you mean the 14-24/2,8 lens? It´s definitely not ideal on a DX camera. It´s brilliant on fullframe - but here also not for spherical panos.
You are much faster using a fisheye.

The best quality and a reserve for zooming you will get using a fullframe camera with a fullframe fisheye like the Nikon 16mm or Canon 15mm on a 21mpx body.

You say: money´s not a problem: why the heck don´t you use a high-resolution fullframe  then instead of a crop-camera?

I suggest a Nikon D3x or a Canon 5D2 with fisheye.

If you want more zoom-into you need to make more shots using a lens like 35mm or longer. But then you´ll get RALLY heavy data in the range of some hundred MB.
