Hi All.
Bad last days for this year 2011 on our south brittany sea shore...
A storm not harder than usual for the season but unfortunatly the usual non care of people playing with an old cargo and vodka...
More picts and pano comming soon...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Demat'
Kenavo.

story http://www.shipwrecklog.com/log/2011/12 … en-ashore/
the story reports something different then wodka "caught in a severe storm with wind gusts upto 83 mph and waves reaching 7 meters in height. The master decided to drop anchor behind the shelter of Groix island, but the vessel’s anchors dragged and the vessel went ashore. "

Hi. Yes the storm was strong and condition quite rough. Unfortunatly the story is missing:
- the 10 m waves registered in the area (during 1 h in the night).
- the fact that the ship left the harbor of Lorient (in far end of the pictures) to reach a wind shelter at 4 km in the afternoon, despite meteo warning, official requests (no International law can oblige a master no to leave) to avoid an additional daily harbor taxe.
- the fact that anchors links were not adaptated to be helpfull in such condition (French NAvy Reporting).
- the fact that local rescue team had to deal with 7 "tired" crew members & officers (local hospital trustable sources)... ![]()
- the fact that the ship structure is so heavily damaged by sand (probably because the metal leaves are brand new) that the ship will have to be dismantled in place with 1.5 t of amiant to be removed without any choise than destructing 2 ha of natural protected area... ![]()
- the fact this trip was the last one before reaching Bangladesh to be dismanteled and that the last "minute" security visit was done in Bulgaria (Owner Repport). ![]()
- the fact that fuel and mazout likking are there in and under water and will cause durable an unvisible damages... ![]()
Any how the result is sad for us in South Brittany that are facing for the 2nd time in 10 years a new and direct result of non care of common sense, stupidity and also cupidity...
Happy new year in any case !! ![]()

I fully agree with you about how said the result is and agree that the circumstances and decisions made are very questionable and even stupid.
However, no sign of wodka as you suggested.

A preciser quand meme
