A walk in the park

Whilst out testing the new APG 2.6 in the local park I managed a few images that might be of interest. All hand held and run through APG with default settings.

Which camera do you use for taking the IR images?

Re: A walk in the park

Thanks Destiny, UKpano and snaefel for the comments.
snaefel, Thanks for the comment' My camera is a Canon 30D that was converted by Maxmax in the USA. It has the 720nm filter and i use a nd4 neutral density filter to eliminate some ot the unfiltered natural light. Without the ND filter I can add some colour if required as in attached image
Everyone enjoy a safe and happy christmas

Re: A walk in the park

Hi... I have been giving IR this effect a play... I found out it doesn't work with HDR images... I need to take some pic's to use... The effect can be really nice..

Re: A walk in the park

Destiny, If I read your post correctly, i believe that you are tyring to do HDR with IR images. I have tried this before and not had any trouble. The images once captured and just ordinary JPG's or tifs or raws and can be manipulated in the same way a normal color image is..The difference will be in the colours you see on screen because IR light is reflected of objects in the same was as visible light, but the sensor in rge camere will register the light in the red, green and blue channel as it thinks the values should be. Maybe tour original IR image is not true IR

Re: A walk in the park

Actually John I tried it with HDR I created from Photomatix.. it seemed to have issues with it... Probably not the right way to do it... I wouldn't mind seeing a full VR using the IR technique... I have never tried the IR before so I thought I would give it a go... since I like the effect... They are really quite beautiful... especially the trees...

Re: A walk in the park

Destiny, How did you capture the IR images. Withan external filter or with a converted camera.  You have to play with he exposure toget a high dynamic range for HDR. The IR light does not react on the sensor as does visible light. You may find that there is not a very big range within the scene when considering IR. The other question is why HDR.

Re: A walk in the park

Its ok.. I was just trying to use a nice photo which I wanted to turn into IR that I originally created as a HDR... I wanted to see if I could edit it using Photoshop but its not really the way to do it... I have found a few web site with IR imaging.. After seeing your IR images I am getting hooked to find out how to do it.. I really love the effect.. I am sure my D90 can do it but I have work it out.. do you have a full VR of a IR image... Love to see it...

Re: A walk in the park

Sorry Destiny I am not into VR as such. I am old fashioned and like to have a print I can see on the wall and not need a computer to view images. Not that I have anything against VR if its used in the right place. And you wont be able to turn a visible light image in true IR one. There are afew app that try but I have not seen one that works.
I might have a go at VR but only when I can get my head around the use of Panotour?

Re: A walk in the park

Thats ok.. I bet if you used a plotter printer with a continuous ink feed setup you could print hugh IR images .. They would look awesome mounted on the wall..... I think you are right.... Photoshop doesn't do justice to the real thing.. so.. where is the tutorial on how to do IR using a D90 wink... The dumbed down version.. lol I am smart with some thing but not IR'eds...
