Hi.. I have seen so many really strange fisheye lenses over the years, in particular some of the rare Nikon Nikkor fisheye lenses....
This is the text that came with this lens....
"Did this super wide angle lens surprised you? Well, it did scared the hell out of me. 11 Lbs Fish Eye Lens is really mind blowing just because of its size that is ridiculous.
Known as the Fisheye-Nikkor lens, it can attach to any SLR camera and will provides up to 220 degree view angle of the world! Amazing…
According to the claims, this 5200 grams Fish Eye Lens is 40% wider than any standard fisheye lenses. It looks so big, heavy and any anti-shock or image stabilizer features will
become ineffective because you will get shaky holding this 5200 grams lens single-handedly (unless you’ve a strong arm power!)."
Wow.. 220 degrees... That's just amazing... Has anyone ever tried one out... I have tried to buy one but the ones I have found for sale are very expensive, around 8000 Euro, that's about $10.500 Aus.. wow!.. I will keep checking out the junk shops...never know.... ![]()
http://www.nicovandijk.net/fish.htm There is also more info here on other fisheye lenses....
WIth the new mini fisheye lenses hitting the market in recent times, they are ideal for assembling into a single ball of lenses since they are quite cheap and some are really good quality too.... i do not think it will be too long before we begin to see some exciting ball fisheye lenses.. When the first half ball or dome mirror lens came out, it was quickly followed by others... I am guessing this will be so with the ball type fisheye lenses too....

Hi Destiny,
Pierre Toscani http://www.pierretoscani.com wrote a page about most of the Nikon fisheye lenses. Like the other Nikkor lenses, the 6 mm f/2.8 fisheye that you covet is illustrated with amazing Flash animations. http://www.pierretoscani.com/echo_fisheyes_english.html
In addition, the article presents and studies the Nikon patented 5.4 mm f/5.6 lens with a weird 270 degrees FOV! Unfortunately this monster was never produced.
May I encourage you to read all the other technical pages posted by Pierre: some of his excellent articles are yet to be translated from French but there are already plentiful to learn from...

This Samyang lens sounds really interesting, it might well be a great starter lens for those who don't have much money or just starting out......

This was interesting until I read...http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/8mm-f35.htm
"There really isn't anything useful you can do with a fisheye, other than use the images as a basis for tweaking back to straight with software.
If you're going to buy a fisheye, it doesn't make much sense to spend much money on it, since you'll probably get tired of it in a few days."
I always read articles by Ken Rockwell before buying anything but I feel he is so wrong here... So I emailed him telling him so... ![]()

I really want a full frame camera but I would then probably miss on the fisheye and go for the ... 14-24, the images are amazing... http://imaging.nikon.com/products/imagi … /index.htm
The mother load..

There is a heap of information on this link but some of it is out of date.. Real shame they did not mention apg in the stitching software....
I would love to have one of each of these lenses to test the quality at the same scene/location against each other.. The problem is, there are examples images all over the place but not as a one set from all lenses so the examples have been taken using many different cameras and photographers. .. Just amazing how many there are.. If I was rich, my hobby would be to own one of each..
emm... I think its called a camera shop!! ![]()
