KrPano license-Presale ?

Hi
Wondering if the $415 Panotour Pro includes a license for the $178 KRPano suite of tools. In other words if we want to further modify xml etc in KRpano do we have to buy a separate copy of KRPano or if it is included as a stand alone? It seems that a Front end tool that cost twice as much as the underlying program would be able to access all the features available instead of a small fraction. It seems that PTP for the cost should be able to give the ability to create nice tours easily (which it does) and be able to access all the features possible with KRPano. Is this a part of the roadmap for PTP? Part of the issue is apparently still no documentation for PTP so hard to tell what it is capable of without trial and error with the actual program.

thanks,
ron

Re: KrPano license-Presale ?

I am going to respond - but please understand that these are my personal observations, comments and opinions not those of Kolor.

Panotour Pro contains embedded licences for the krpano Flash Panorama Player, and the krpano iDevice compatible ('mobile compatible') player. At the moment purchasing a licence for Panotour Pro does not also give you a licence for krpanotools.

I questioned this myself and Kolor has stated that their agreement with the developer of krpano software would allow them to issue a licence for krpanotools with Panotour Pro, but they have questioned the need for it.

See: http://www.autopano.net/forum/t11185-do … ls-licence

My own view is that it would be good if Kolor also provided a krpanotools licence to Panotour Pro licence holders.

However you do not need a krpanotools licence to make modifications to the XML code generated by Panotour Pro.

It seems that a Front end tool that cost twice as much as the underlying program would be able to access all the features available instead of a small fraction. It seems that PTP for the cost should be able to give the ability to create nice tours easily (which it does) and be able to access all the features possible with KRPano.

Klaus R. the developer of the krpano software has to date followed a fairly rapid (and sometimes somewhat unpredictable) incremental course of development. So it would be quite difficult for Kolor to keep up with this and introduce new features simultaneously in Panotour and Panotour Pro which have followed a rather more formal pattern of development and product release.

There is also the issue of the 'tension' between adding/supporting additional features, risking 'bloat' and 'feature overload', and maintaining ease of use. To date Kolor has focussed on providing (a developing range of) core features and exceptional ease of use.

Is this a part of the roadmap for PTP?

Kolor has repeatedly stated that as they further develop Panotour and Panotour Pro they intend to provide support via the GUI for ever more features of krpano. Kolor has an excellent track record of listening to users and prioritising the development of features they request.

Part of the issue is apparently still no documentation for PTP so hard to tell what it is capable of without trial and error with the actual program.

thanks,
ron

The forum provides an interactive source of 'documentation' - please don't hesitate to ask.
