Brand New User HTML output question

Hello!

Just purchased Panotour Pro 2.5 (Mac) a few days ago and I'm having trouble viewing the Output online. I can view a simple test Pano on my desktop by opening the html file through Safari but once I transfer it to my webspace all I see is the pano title on a white background (using the generic template for now).

I've seen the documentation online regarding the xxxdata folder and xxx0.xml file needing to reside in the same folder, etc. and it seems like I'm doing everything correctly. Does flash work differently on the Desktop through a browser than it does online through a browser? Maybe my webspace is set up wrong and doesn't allow a necessary operation?

It looks like PTP is outputting everything I need and I am copying all the files and folders to a folder on my webspace but no luck. I don't get any errors but obviously something is loading incorrectly. I'm not very skilled with HTMl or XML so I'd appreciate any help. Hopefully this is an easy fix for someone who is more familiar with PTP.

Thank you all!

Re: Brand New User HTML output question

I see what you see - white page with title text only - and I'm using Firefox on Windows XP.

Are you quite sure you uploaded all the files and folders created when exporting the tour and that in doing so you maintained the folder/file structure?

How did you upload to your web site - via FTP?

The easiet way to ensure you have all the files and folders is to expoort your toiur to a new folder and then upload that folder and all its contents to your web server.

Re: Brand New User HTML output question

I checked it too & found that the xml files are not available & seems to be the probable cause that the tour is not loading.

Is it possible that my web host doesn't support XML? Or is it possible that the HTML is still looking on my desktop? It's strange that there's no error message at all.

I tried opening the xml files locally and got a little line of text and an empty white page...

Re: Brand New User HTML output question

Host not suporting xml is a very remote possibility.
Open the local xml files in some text editor to verify that the code is written properly if not then seems something went haywire while outputting the tour & xml files got corrupted.

Render the tour again without re rendering the images this will output again the required xml & other file else, render again the full tour to another folder.

I talked to the host company (godaddy) and they say it's not possible that it's their servers - they fully support javascript, xml, flash, etc...

I found some issues posted about godaddy not working with javascript when their Preview DNS is enabled, but it's not enable for my account.

The most frustrating part is that it all works perfectly on my desktop. Only when I transfer to the remote server does it not work.

In playing with the files more, it looks like the problem is with the "<script src="swfobject/swfkrpano.js"></script>" command. It just doesn't seem to be running. So it runs locally but won't run remotely? The file path is relative to its location so it should work as long as it's where the html code can find it - and it is. When I remove the .js file from the folder locally, I get the same response as I do remotely - blank white screen with project title text on top left.

I even tried to change the file path in the html code to point exactly to its location on the server and still nothing. I'm going to try another server...

Can you reach to these 2 files on your server? we (2 member here) cant which means the xml files cannot be read. Try another server host if you have access to.

I know... sorry. I've screwed them up so bad trying to edit every file I can think of so I removed them just now. Here's the current active link. I'll leave it alone!

I moved the exact same files to Apple's Mobile Me server and an error (see pic) which led me here http://krpano.com/docu/iisservers/

Everything we can see and you report suggests that this file is not uploaded to the server.

No! It can't be. I just stumbled across that as I was researching potential issues with the JavaScript file and the krpano licensing.

Re: Brand New User HTML output question

same problem again with the new link.
Are you even able to see the files on the server?
If yes then could there be a problem while transfer, I remember the software has options such as ascii & binary & that can mess up the files leaving them unreadable.

I can see the files on both servers ( godaddy and mobile me)  I'll check those settings. I used cyberduck ( and have for years) with godaddy.  I used the OS to put on the mobile me server. So there's 2 independent methods giving similar results.

It's all there, I assure you. I get the same results as you do. It doesnt make any sense. Tomorrow I'll zip a file and upload in case you wouldn't mind trying it on your server.

Here's a link to see the files I'm using. This is minus the 2 iPhone files (and whatever else is created with the mobile version unchecked) to eliminate that as a source of trouble.

OK - it plays back fine from local disk on an ancient Thinkpad T23 Win2K/Firefox laptop.

I get a Fatal: License Error message when attempting playback (after uploading) from a web server.

Are you using a licensed version of Panotour Pro or a demo version?

It's licensed but I'm wondering if something didn't "stick" in the transition from demo to licensed. The software seems to behave like I've licensed it (no watermark, save enabled) and it shows as being registered to my email address in the splash screen. The krpano license file shows my email address also.

The results you got from your server are the same I got by hosting on Mobile Me - the fatal license error, in Safari and Firefox. On godaddy I get the blank white screen like you saw early on. There's got to be something missing/wrong in the code somewhere.

I've been trying my best to comb through the html, javscript and xml files to see if anything jumps out as being odd. I just don't have enough experience in that arena to feel like I'm accomplishing anything.

I really appreciate you hanging in there with me on this issue. I owe you one!
