So the answer is - Yes, it's highly visible! I bought one off ebay for $45 US. It has a reflective coating on the back of the screen so that when the sun is behind you it's quite visible. If you are in the sun and it is not shining on the screen, it has the same problem as the laptop. I'm now workin...

Visibility of Nokia N810 Screen in Daylight?

Can someone with a Nokia N810 describe the visibility of the screen outside in the daylight. I'm finding it very difficult to see PapyWizard on the screen of my HP laptop unless I'm under a tree on in the car. I'm considering switching to an N810 if it has better visibility.
Thanks

Thank you for the inspiration to build a Bluetooth module. I was able to find an integrated Bluetooth/RS232 module from a Chinese seller on ebay. Wiring it up was pretty easy, I just had to figure out that the transmit of the module needs to be connected to the receive of the hand controller and vic...

You must first set the Nikon D7000 to do Exposure Bracketing for the number of exposures you want (on page 109 of the English version of the D7000 manual). Then set the All View controller "exposure control time" (on page 17 of the AllView manual) to the number of seconds it takes for the D7000 to c...

No, I didn't miss your point. I followed your instructions precisely and got what I described on the AllView hand controller. If you used some other hardware/software conbination to get the H.C. info then it doesn't apply to the AllView. If you think you are going to put the AllView software on a di...

Mine says H. C. Firmware Ver.03.09 which is really the hand controller. The initial screen says Ver.03.09.24 I don't see any options for finding the "Motor Controller" version. This is not the HC version it shipped with, this is the latest version from Celestron and now also posted on the SkyWatcher...

Here's a photo of the setup. I've opted to stick with the Windows 7 laptop with a usb/serial adapter and a 20ft serial extension cord I made up. I replaced the hard drive in the laptop with an SSD so I get well over 2 hours of usage before I need to plug it back into the inverter in the car for a re...

I have not tried the 360x180 on the AllView. I have a Gigapan Epic 100 upon which I use a Canon Powershot S100 for the 360 shots. I can get way more resolution than I can ever use in a 360 with this setup and it works flawlessly! See http://www.360cities.net/search/@author-phillsimpson I did try Eas...

Yep, did all that. The sky cleared today so I was able to do some more tests on the "Auto Lighting Optimizer" and "Peripheral Illumination Correction". The "Auto Lighting Optimizer" was definitely making the problem worse (along with saving in JPEG instead of RAW) but the real problem was a variatio...

Below is a link to a panorama I took last week with the Allview mount, a Canon 60D, Canon EF 100-400 L IS lens set to 400mm, and PapyWizard 2.1.18-1 running on a Windows XP Pro laptop. I was extremely happy with the way the AllView mount performed when PapyWizard was used to control it. It was quite...

I'm now starting to see a clue to the problem with the internal math used in the controller. A "level" is equivalent to a row of images. In their software they allow up to 128 images per row, which in a full 360 circle with 25 % overlap is equivalent to about 3.5 degrees. And the problems with using...

That's a good sign. I suspect that the priority for fixing the problem will be bumped higher if more users complain about it.

I've done some more testing on the AllView head after receiving a KeySpan USB to RS232 Adapter today and I can report: 1. The TrippLite KeySpan Adapter USA-19HS will work with the AllView head using PapyWizard 2.1.20 on a Windows 7 Pro 32bit laptop. 2. You must download the Windows 7 KeySpan adapter...

You raise some good points, I will admit to having a bias towards software defects since I’ve spent the last 30 years trying to prevent, testing for, fixing, and developing work arounds for software defects. Thanks for pointing out the “non-uniform grid” option in PTGui, that’s the program I...

If you are thinking of using the Celestron SkyWatcher AllView panoramic head as a standalone head to make panoramas, you will be disappointed. I purchased this product in April of this year for the purpose of taking large (gigapixel) panoramas with my DSLR and telephoto lens. After some initial frus...
