Very interesting indeed... Well done ! Two comments: - On one pano, a ghost was visible - AP makes it possible (with image manipulation) to erase or resurrect ghosts. It is not very difficult. You will need an image processing software (Gimp or Photoshop) to remove the ghosts prior to pano rendering...

Today, I had a conversation with a colleague who told me that he had to go back to 2.0.9 because of stitching errors with APP 2.5. This is not my experience and I do feel very happy with 2.5. BUT but but : I was using APP 2.0.9 while I am now using APG 2.5 with multiple viewpoint correction setting ...

To Hankkarl:

It seems that my ASUS M2N-SLI motherboard will accept 3 Gbytes. I will however have to install 4 Gbytes (there are 4 slots working in parallel; hence I have to populate either one pair or two pairs of slots).

To Klausesser: I have always been shooting panorama this way, ie without panohead. On the Sigma 10-20 lens, I know (see http://wiki.panotools.org/Entrance_Pupil_Database) where the npp is : almost at the end of the lens. So, it is not that difficult with an accuracy of cat. 2 cm (my estimate) to pos...

To Alexandre: Thanks for the reply - Would an upgrade of my conf. from 2 to 4 Gbytes (it seems that Win 32 will not be able to handle more than 3 Gbytes) resolve the problem ? Would there be an improvement in moving to Linux (I have a double boot on my computer) ? Will the APG license code work on L...

I can certify that APG perfectly works with Windows 32 and (only) 2 GBytes of memory. In general, I use APG to process spherical panoramas made of 24 images and it works seamlessly (15 to 30 minutes to perform a complete rendering). Very recently, I have tried exposure fusion with 80 images and it a...

I confirm I am talking about APG 2.5 and not APP. I had noticed this bug in alpha/beta releases of APG and I thought it had been corrected (it was announced as being corrected and the last panos I rendered were OK). However, it is the first time I ever use the exposure fusion mode and suddenly the i...

Thanks In this circumstance, it appears that the answer is YES: 24 images @ 1/20 s; 24 images @ 1/80 s, etc... Even with the definition you give, there is obviously a bug : while different exposures anywhere else in the panorama will be correctly corrected, different exposures at left/right border w...

APG instability

I have been fiddling during one week to process an old panorama (the first panorama I have ever shot, in fact), that no software had been able sofar to completely process !!! I explain: the panorama is constituted of 80 handheld pictures corresponding to 4 different exposure times (3 rows x 8; 3 row...

To klausesser : What do you mean by density ? My process is very simple: - convert raw to tiff - run APG 2.5 - remove the alpha chanel generated by APG, using Photomatix (just open the tif generated by apg and save it with an other name) - use fsp viewer (as I always do) to view the generated panora...

Unfortunately, this trick does not work. I had also the issue with a 10000 x 5000 panorama; so, I performed an other rendering with 9884 (82 x 128) instead of 10000, but I got the same result. The characteristics of the processing were : - 80 images corresponding to 4 different exposure times (8 x 3...

To answer AERISCERA: Sometime, I resurrect ghosts in my panoramas. Lens recognition in APP/APG (any release)

When I process raw files with APG, there is no issue and my lens is recognized as standard, with the right parameters. The point is that most of the time I convert the raw files into tif files using Nikon Capture NX2; then, my standard sigma lens is always (APP/APG, 2.5 or earlier releases) identifi...

Autopano RC2 crash when rendering (Win 32)

While attempting to process a spherical pano made of 26 raw files, there was a crash during pano rendering (all the steps before had gone without any trouble). I do not remember the message that was displayed but this was related to memory (not enough probably !). Hence I converted the raw files to ...

Thanks for this reply that makes sense. However, you can also work with tiff that may have had such corrections. As for me, I shoot raw files that I convert to tiff with Nikon Capture. In the raw to tiff conversion process, I apply a minimum set of corrections to the images (typically white balance,...

I agree that output size specified in pixels in the prefs. would be good, but it leads to a problem: - specification in percents works for any pano - specification in number of pixels (width ? height ? both ?) will work only for dedicated panoramas, shot with a specific focal lens, number of shots, ...

Thanks for your wise recommandations, that I will obviously strictly obey, drinking some champagne wine to your health and to the health of the Kolor team (they deserve it). Mostly unpleasant behaviour of APG

APG 2.5 RC - Windows 32 A/ After having performed the optimisation of a 24 image spherical panorama, I got a satisfactory result with an RMS error of 1.86. I saved the pano file, performed a complete rendering and was also very happy with the final result. B/ Now, as there was a remaining ghost in t...
