And note, for the Nikon users, that the Samyang now exists in an AE configuration !!!

To HansKeesom: What is your sensor size to get 10000 x 5000 panoramas? Is this an APS-C or a full frame?

Samyang fisheye now AE

Just read that this morning on the DPreview site:

www.dpreview.com/news/2011/11/25/samyang8nikon

Good new ! Affordable lens now with AE for Nikon.

But, up to now, I have not been able to find an address where to buy it in Europe....

Thanks Alexandre, From your answer, I understand that the lens database file is not used in this process of lens recognition and that there is no way to overcome the issue (except, but I do not see any benefit in such complex operation, by trying to incorporate the lost makernotes in the tif image f...

Unfortunately, I use this lens at different focal values. During my summer trip in the USAs, I shot a lot of panoramas (not spherical) with my Sigma lens, using different focal value depending on the landscape to be photographed. I was wondering whether fiddling with the lens database file would mak...

Lens not correctly recognized by APG

When my sigma 10-20 lens is at 10, its focal is perceived by APG as 9.87 (why not...) and this leads APG to detecting the lens as Fisheye. With other focal values, the lens is always detected as standard. Would there be a way by creating a dummy lens in the lensdatabase file to overcome this and hav...

Haze Removal

As my configuration is a modest windows 32 bits with 2 GBytes, I need to be very carefull with the way I use APG and play with the memory allocation sliders (in the "parameters" settings). Is there a way to separately and independently de-haze the images (possibly one by one) and create/edit/etc... ...

No experience of the Samyang. I can only say that I am very happy with my sigma 10-20 (APS-C), that I also use with great pleasure for standard photography. The only drawback of the Sigma is that Nikon Capture nx2 does not have it in its library (eg for lens distortion correction). For this reason, ...

To Hans Keesom: - SSD: I will have a look at it - run time: I had to rerun the 78 images panorama for further ghost processing. I was surprised, then, to notice that the run time had strongly decreased to 1h50mn. The differences compared to the first run are: * Some of the images changed from 16 bit...

To Gkaefer: The ghosts are moving people. Hence, from one shot to the next (within the bracketed series), they move... Help - Ghost removal in bracketed panorama

I just stitched a 78 images panorama (26 bracketed images, everything shot handheld) and, after 6h50mn of processing I got a wonderful result. For this, I used the exposure fusion mode of APG 2.5 that is really very impressive. Now, I have ghosts to remove. There were people moving and the ghosts, I...

What is very unpleasant is to have to fight against a software without being able to find a reliable reproducible process. In this situation, I feel happy because I got a process and the process works! Note that there were 78 images to stitch, that the panorama is 222 MPixels and that my configurati...

After having (on a smaller panorama) compared APG and Photomatix, I finally reached the conclusion that, for my case of handheld shot panoramas, APG was slightly better than Photomatix. So, I followed the advice of Alexandre (ie fiddling - as he mentioned - with the memory setting) for my 78 images ...

As my panorama had been shot handheld, I had to use it. The result was excellent.

As mentioned, the difference between the Photomatix Pano and the APG Exposure Fusion one is very thin and I really had to observe the two panos during quite a long time to make a decision...

To be complete: I have also rendered the panorama made of the 10 images obtained with Photomatix from the (-2,0,+2) set of exposures.
