Anyway to load a full res pano tours for viewing on an iPad?

Does anyone know if there is any way that an app could be built that would permit full resolution viewing of panoramic tours on an iPad?

Files for web are around 3GB

TIA,

Gerald.

Hi Ed - I think we're much in agreement, but coming at this from slightly different angles. Importantly though, the following statement simply is not true, and misses what are the fundamental factors surrounding this entire discussion. in order to get the biggest pixelcount, well use the smallest wo...

The IQ180 takes exceedingly good panoramas. http://08.ae/imgs/2012-06-07-0008_800.jpg If speed of capture is important, nothing can touch it. Quite simply, because it takes less than half the number of shots to shoot the same number of pixels as the next best option (the D800). (that's a slight crop...

Depending on what camera you are coming from, the D800 may not necessarily increase pixel count. The Canon 7D has a higher pixel density, and the Sony A77 higher still. Shoot the same scene with the same focal length lens, and both those will give you more pixels than the D800 will, the Sony signifi...

Andrew - you are a star. That fixed it.

Many thanks. I'll suggest to Seitz that they write those missing parameters to the XML file.

Kind regards,

Gerald.

Hi Andrew -

Thanks for this.

No - the XML from the VR Drive does not contain this information. I will edit the XML manually and will see the difference these extra parameters make.

(There certainly looks to be sufficient overlap in the images.)

Kind regards,

Gerald.

Stitching 4:3 aspect ratio images

Is there any reason why APG (latest version) would have trouble stitching images that are in a 4:3 aspect ratio? It seems to stitch rows OK, but for some reason seems to be really struggling to create control points between rows, and so I end up with a separate panorama group per row, that I then ne...

Hi Georg - Oh I couldn't agree more. It's great that there is someone out there with the resources and desire to push the envelope. I'm just not clear on the implications on what I refer to as the upstream side of things (i.e. actually shooting the images). And koloreyes? What's that? Sounds intrigu...

Hallo gddxb, your calculations are correct. It means, that you get instead of a detail in the size of 1 pixel 1.75 pixel. This is reducing your horizontal resolution of your camera from 4896 pixel/1.75 to an equivalent of 2797 pixel. You must decide if that is o.k. for your work. Josef And if it is...

Brian - you say "hundreds-of-gigapixels", so I think it's safe to assume that you're talking about a minimum of 200GP, yes? And I'm also assuming we're talking about "real" sizing here, and not some of the nonsense that's been created in the past? OK. First off. Putting the computer hardware to one ...

If people are less experienced with computers and have issues with the fine control of mouse movements, surely this would apply across all applications? Wouldn't the correct thing to do in such cases be to change the sensitivity of the mouse itself?

Quick question - I've noticed that when viewing an iBook, the aspect ratio of the tour - regardless of whether you are viewing in portrait or landscape - is presented in the aspect ratio of the Default.png file in the root of the .wdgt folder. Example: http://dubai.posterous.com/free-demo-ibook-feat...

It's far from perfect. No opportunity to do any focus stacking - it was tough enough just getting one set of shots off - so there are problems such as this: http://08.ae/imgs/SZM60/focusproblem.jpg Seeing it in full resolution for the first time has also highlighted quite a lot of stitching errors t...

Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Abu Dhabi, UAE - 60 gigapixels

Not uploaded anywhere yet. The tiles are over 12 gigabytes ( :o ), and there's a bug in PTP that results in some minor display issues (I have to force it to be a 359 degree pano, then edit the XML back to 360). Hopefully the images below will give you a sense of the detail in this: http://08.ae/imgs...

Dubai Marathon 2012

This was taken about a minute before the start of the main race, 5 minutes before sunrise. Wasn't the clearest of mornings unfortunately, and very challenging light, but - all things considered - I'm fairly pleased with the way it turned out. It's one of 5 that I took this morning. Also captured the...

Yes, such feature may be part of a future version of PanotourPro.

We are currently looking on how to implement it, and yes, it may be as "simple" as a checkbox "create iBooks widget".

Best Regards,

Help! Unsure as to whether tour build will complete.

I've got a large (180GB .kro pano) tour build on the go at the moment, and am unsure as to what exactly is going on. The tour itslef, apart from the size, is nothing special - just the single pano and no hotspots or other stuff - I'm simply using PTP to create the necessary files for the website. Th...

If the landscape images were rotated 90° in the wrong direction, that would explain why they are out by 180° to the portrait images. Just to add - tremendous example of customer and company working together to improve a product displayed in the above posts. Great to see - my sincere thanks to you al...

How big are the panoramas?

As an example, I have a tour comprising 3 panoramas where each panorama is around 1.5 gigapixels, and the total size is 570MB, with 560MB of that being the tiles.
