well Destiny my Acratech GV2 arrived today nice quality unit aren't they ,is that the same model you have tried it on the monopod this afternoon as a gimbal head no it hangs off the side , does not work very well at all , then tried it as a normal ball head , that did not work either , both were a q...

Re: Best Affordable Zoom/Telephoto Lens Option for a D800

Hi Destiny been using lens a lot , only complaint so far is a bit of purple fringing in some pics ,easy to get rid off in software so not a problem, no sign of zoom creep yet , So basically I am as happy with my lens as you are with yours , the monopod I don't know I can't seem to get good results w...

Re: Best Affordable Zoom/Telephoto Lens Option for a D800

Well Destiny still can't fault the lens , sharp and fast focus on D800 body , tried my Tele converters on it the other day 1200 mm F13 only manual focus though , I think the result was better than 70 to 200 with teleconverter 400 mm, still trying to master the monopod Ha Ha , I am giving it a fair g...

Re: Best Affordable Zoom/Telephoto Lens Option for a D800

Destiny that was at 1600 ISO , don't really want to go higher then that , Gee these long zoom lenses really add a new dimension to your photography , just like ultra wide lenses do the good point with monopod is you can do what you want it for, rest the weight off your arms , the problem is when you...

Re: Best Affordable Zoom/Telephoto Lens Option for a D800

ok so far Destiny no zoomcreep , has lens lock at 1500 as well as 400mm , The 400 one seems to be a secret , no complaints with focus so far ,does not hunt all over the place like my sigma 80 to 400 did ,had a look at sigma 150 to 600mm canon mount last night , basically the same lens you would be h...

Re: Best Affordable Zoom/Telephoto Lens Option for a D800

Destiny well the sigma contempery lens does not appear to be available in Australia at the moment , maybe grey market , so I had a look at the Tamron with the very good price they offered it to me for I decided to get it and I must admit I am glad I did it's really good , a much more impressive lens...

Re: Best Affordable Zoom/Telephoto Lens Option for a D800

same weight + or - 10 grams , its about 50mm longer , the other reason I like the sigma over the tamron is they have dock for this lens you plug the lens in to it and plug it in to the computer and you can program the lens from the computer you can micro adjust the lens , adjust the focus limit swit...

Re: Best Affordable Zoom/Telephoto Lens Option for a D800

Yes ,I agree Sigma are the first to do it with their 150 to 600mm lenses it's about time that's for sure ,if all goes well hope to order lens end of next week , Off course it's going cause a problem it probably won't fit in camera bag will it ;) =( ( Marc sent me a message saying the 600mm and arca ...

Re: Capture a 360 Pano in 12 seconds....

Mediavets the lenses I want use on it are the cheap light weight Tamron or sigma 150 to 600mm lenses , the one I wanted to get was sigma sport but it's too heavy ,so I have decided to go for sigma contemporary lens because it has focus limit switch , no I am definitely not going to use a large pro 4...

Re: Best Affordable Zoom/Telephoto Lens Option for a D800

Yes that solves the lens creep ,with the cheaper long lenses, I used to have sigma 80 to 400mm lens the two things I hated about it was zoom creep which that would have fixed and no focus limit switch , it used to hunt back and forwards it was awful , the nikon 80 to 400mm lens was just as bad but h...

Re: Best Affordable Zoom/Telephoto Lens Option for a D800

Destiny looking into my 150 to 600mm lens choice, looks like I am getting Sigma contempary model reason over Tamron is Focus limit switch and and soft lock on zoom positions stop zoom creep, performance between the two seems to be on par and price is about the same

Re: Capture a 360 Pano in 12 seconds....

Destiny well they all have there good points and bad points , I really like your vr2 drive and that's the one I had made up my mind to get , but its just to Exspensive , I have backed out of that , The Panoneed I like probably the one I should get :) , the weight =( ,if I was younger no brainer , So...

Re: Capture a 360 Pano in 12 seconds....

yes I sort of agree ,Mediavets its just its weight is for me a problem , 1) I am an ancient old person =D and 2) it weight is 4.2 kg :p and my Manfrotto 055 tripod is rated at 8KG prob ?, and by the time you add every thing else its heading towards the max ,the other 2 are only around 2.6 KG Rolly1

hi Mediavets no I don't Expect miracles , I don't know if you have looked at the Roundshot VR2 and read its owner manual it states for gigapixel mosaics it is recommended to use continuous mode but as stated earlier you need to keep shutter speed up high , its good the new cameras have low noise at ...

Re: Capture a 360 Pano in 12 seconds....

no I don't think so Klaus the VR2 drive will work with 20 kg payload and lenses greater 1000mm the Panoneed will handle 8Kg and I am not sure about longest focal length I am hoping 500 to 600mm ,my fx gear I intend using with these heads is within those ranges ,and lots of people use Nikon 14 to 24 ...

Re: Capture a 360 Pano in 12 seconds....

Mediavets the R1 is designed for fisheye lenses my 10.5 Nikon has hood shaved off so with D800 4 pics for 360 pano , you can buy nadir attachment for it ,if you want, Klaus. The reason I put the lenses under good points ,both the VR2 drive and Panoneed head will will allow me to do 360 panos with To...
