I've been having a play with various different settings. I have to say, it's probably the best thing I've done buying this manual lens... its made be HAVE to learn all about shutter speed/ISO, Aperture, focus ring etc... My settings for the Canon EOS 450D with Samyang 8mm F3.5 FE Lens are; Focus Ri...

Can the DSLR Remote Pro software "Take HDR photos by automatically bracketing up to 15 shots varying the shutter speed or aperture" (from the website) specifically on the Canon 7D and Canon 40D? I've seen comments that the bracketing is restricted to the limitation set by the camera or does DSLR Pr...

I'm surprised you've considered, and rejected, the Canon 10-22mm EF-S lens.

On the 7D it makes a stunning wide-angle lens and the f3.5 aperture certainly isn't a real issue.

no problem Claude, I'll add them into the user database if that's ok and do a small write up on my website. I should have all the bits back together for the weekend when I get back home. I'm stuck in a hotel in N. Yorkshire at the moment lol

The link Andrew gives shows really astonishing work!!!! Great!!!! It seems you only need to have 2,600 Euros burning a hole in your pocket (for the mast) - and good insurance! - to be able to do the same. and ideally a van to mount it all in :) I carry about 70lbs of camera gear with me when I'm ou...

with the 8mm FE I can't see the need for focus confirmation UNLESS the camera or pano system requires it to move on to the next step. Personally I use the Samyang 8mm and basically everything is sharp unless you start shooting at very very close distances. This example was a test and is a toy RC hel...

Sorry, it is not possible to save a preset. There are some web tools to generate a preset from mosaic, or even from output data file. To see the ~/.config/papywizard2 dir, you need to use an alternate file manager (GPE Filemanager), or use command-line tools, from a terminal. For example, if you pu...

I've just realised that the ideal mounting plate has been under my nose all the time as I use it on my Canon 600mm prime lens :) With a modified crown it will be possible to use this manfrotto quick release and an arm on the crown to give 80mm of NPP adjustment fore/aft and get the lens over the pan...

Hello Kev, Those photos have been taken by "valery44" (see our users database) with a Merlin on top of the 15 meters Mast. The connection was made by a "PapyMerlin" BT module between a Nokia N810 and the Merlin... This setting allow +/- 30 meters distance so this was not a problem (This "practical"...

Love the different perspective this shooting angle gives Bluetooth range is approx 10m, with a 15m mast the guy must be holding the Nokia over his head :) I've tested and achieved much greater line of sight BT range than that - at least 30m, as from from the head that I could go and still visually ...

Saving Presets from Papywizard

Hi, on the Nokia N800 version of Papywizard 2.1.16 I can see an option to load in preset files. Would it be possible to get a Save preset? After configuring a mosiac sequence it would be useful to save that preset for use on another occasion. Also on the N800 how do I find the preset.xml file etc? U...

Options for setting the NPP on the Merlin

Rather than reinvent the wheel I thought I would ask for ideas on the best way of modifying the Merlin to give the correct NNP position for a range of lenses in portrait and landscape positions. Landscape: Using the standard bracket on the Merlin it is not possible to set the left/right or the fore/...

Up and running

My thanks to FMA and Claude for the support on this project. It took me about an hour to get the complete Merlin/N800/BT module runnning including a fresh install of OS2008, not bad for a newbie :)

You may look into setting on you camera and see if you can trigger an interval timer sequence from your remote. If so you should be able to program in a 3 image intervault that starts with the remote trigger. If I remember correctly you can't do this with a Nikon but maybe Canon can. This isn't an ...

Would not Bulb mode require two triggers one to start and one to end the exposure?

For Canon it is only one pulse, as long as the pulse remains high then the shutter stays open

The pulse width is only a Papywizard limitation (in the GUI definition, in fact). I can change it without problem. But I think a better solution is to add a flag like: x Keep contact closed during shooting As you will have to set the 'Time Value' param to be as long as your bracketing sequence, the...

I think it's possible to take the bracketed images using a short pulse if you set the camera up correctly. I'll have a play with my 40d and 7D this afternoon and see if I can confirm this. sorry I was wrong on both cameras as I thought it was possible to trigger the sequence of 3 frames with a shor...
