Re: Drone Mapping

I don't think you'll ever be completely satisfied with APG for this type of application. We started out with programs such as APG, PTGui etc for our drone mapping efforts but quickly came to this conclusion. Although pricey, programs such as Pix4D, Agisoft Photoscan etc. work very well for us and pr...

What causes this banding? [SOLVED]

The attached screen capture of a portion of the sky in an AutoPano Giga output file. Camera was a Canon 5D Mark II shooting with a Sigma 15-30mm at widest. Would like to know what the most likely source of these bands are? Seems it must be the lens however each of the 24 images taken shows quite an ...

Re: Where to focus when shooting 360 panos?

If the distances to your scene vary widely-- from close to far-- you can take multiple images at the same spot and adjust for DOF accordingly. For example, shooting a panorama of a distant mountain range with a Canon Mark III and a 100mm lens the DOF would be around 95 ft to infinity. If portions of...

Re: Whats new @ Photokina

I am sure GoPro could if they really tried, make a workable single unit video 360 cam.. With Kolor Software inside.. With an underwater housing.. made very light so drones could mount it on.. It would need to have options for live feed video so it could be used for 360 video conferencing, search an...

Re: Whats new @ Photokina

You should be writing these tech articles! :) Most all of your points elaborated on here: http://www.technewsworld.com/story/84097.html GoPro created something really nice looking but it lacked so many basic features, which was real shame. I feel it was doomed after the Mavic was lanced but now its ...

Re: Nikon KeyMission: 1st impression

I also think it's a pretty safe be that by the time Nikon comes up with a KM2 there will be a whole host of other competing options out there from other vendors. Good news for shoppers of course...

Re: Nikon KeyMission: 1st impression

I see B&H sent out an email with details of how to pair the KeyMission with IOS devices. I assume they're seeing a lot of the kinds of issues many are reporting and trying to help buyers with the pairing. I agree that it would be better to be able to have an option to manually stitch the videos ...

Re: Nikon KeyMission: 1st impression

That's very strange. Do you remember what the error was? For anyone following this I did manage to find/send a short sample file to Annis. To be clear, the KeyMission video was recognized fine by Panotour-- the error was in the output. Quite possibly an issue with IE: ERROR: 360VideoTestdata/dscn00...

Re: Nikon KeyMission: 1st impression

Can you share samples of the video shot with the KeyMission you tried to open in Panotour? What's the format? It should be an mp4. I'm afraid I didn't save any of my tests as they were just quick test shots around the property. They were mp4 files. I even tried importing into Premiere which worked ...

Re: How to shoot for Livepano?

Nice setup. We use Canon Mark IIs and Mark IIIs also. Typically with a 15mm lens. You may already know this but when speaking to an Omega Brandess rep at a recent show about their new updated Gigapan Epic Pro system I discovered that our current, original Epic Pro could be updated to include the new...

Re: How to shoot for Livepano?

I shot a last week a panorama and shot yesterday a LivePano for that panorama. Just used the exact focal length and the same spot where my tripod was, and it worked now I have working LivePano import. :) Lino Hi Lino, Glad you figured it out. What camera/focal length lens did you use and how many r...

Re: Nikon KeyMission: 1st impression

I was wise to hold off and not pre order.. Yeah, but you missed out on the incredible FREE accessory package! Actually, that was about the best part... =( I know little about marketing but it seems to me there was a real chance for Nikon to get a foothold in the overall 360 degree camera...

Nikon KeyMission: 1st impression

Did some quick tests with the Nikon KeyMission 360 today. Bottom line: not impressed. I need to dig around some more but if things don't improve I'm leaning toward returning it. I can confirm all the reports of the app (which you absolutely need to operate) is notoriously difficult to pair. Hours la...

Re: Whats new @ Photokina

well lol. Casey did trap into the pitfall, many other reviewer did it too since the mavic presentation... ... they did not realize that the dji mavic has no fixed focus, but an manual/automatic focus... default set to manual ;-) result... all videos I saw until now were out of focus, blurry at all....

Re: Whats new @ Photokina

The Solo does have a Panorama smart shot although I haven't tested it yet. And yes, the price has come down dramatically since it first came out. Around $600 USD most places these days. But I think your reservations about buying are well founded. 3DR seems to be focused primarily on Enterprise (aka:...

Re: Whats new @ Photokina

Destiny- My 3DR Solo as well as DJI's latest offerings all have a "follow me" mode. Solos have what they call "smart shots" one of which is "orbit" which will circle an object such as building, tree, whatever as you control the camera angle, diameter of the orbit, altit...

What camera mounts are you using??

There doesn't seem to be much discussion at all here (or I just can't find it) about what kind of rig folks are using to capture their source 360 video. We're looking at a number of options and would appreciate any input/advice from those creating 360 output. Info such as what model rig, how many ca...
