Ivo, how is quality in speed mode. The vr2 claims to do 360 in 6 seconds. At the 1/500 exposure time they recoment that's still 1/8th of a degree over the exposure time which seems like a reasonable distance at current pixel densities even on a fisheye

Good Lord! Ok - if you can spend 60000.-€ for a lens the Rodeon can´t be really a problem . . best, Klaus Not necessarily comparable. Compare the depreciation of the pair. If you sold in 5 years time i doubt the rodeon would be worth alot compared to its original cost. Whereas you might ma...

20kg load would roughly mean a 35mm ARRI movie-camera with a real big lens and about 120m Film in it´s magazine - when i recall it correctly from my days as a cameraman. Really hard stuff . . Or the canon 1200/5.6 with 1D series body. With a little to spare for a TC. Simlarly the old nikkor...

This is within the capabilities of krpano. Not sure if panotour license allows access to krpano tools. If so then you could create the files for an objectVR using the krpano droplet, then slip it in with the rest of the tour using xml export feature then editing that xml manually. Not the most elega...

I use myself D3 with 150-500 lens plus focal doubler and it works fine on Epic Pro, so long whole stuff is well balanced when installed on Epic Pro. If i take a stab and guess you refer to the sigma 150-500, then this comes in at ~2kg, for ~3.5kg with a D3 i think. This is about the rated limit for...

The D3 would definately be too heavy with a 400/2.8 on the panogear head, but the combination may well be pushing it for the gigapan too. But at about 1.5kg most lenses will be accepted by the panogear head. The gigapan is i gather faster in gigapixel images, and a manual head might be faster for re...

if you wish to do spherical images in addition to partial panoramas, then i would recomend the panogear. Gigapan doesn allow optimised shooting paterns for spheres, and is limited in its pitch movement

neutralhazer stops after 3 images

im trying to stick an old pano through APG with neutralhazer under the trial to evaluate what it can do and it stops after the first 3 images have been dehazed, is this a bug or a limitation of the trial? vista/64, APG2.5.0

edit: updating to APG 2.5.2 retains this behaviour

It should work fine, so the question is weather it's the merlin or your camera that is playing up. Stick the cable into your camera, and use e.g. a paperclip to short the first and third portion of the other end of the cable. This should trigger the shutter. This should allow you to at least determi...

Im doing some research into setting up a VR buisness, and would be very grateful if anyone who is already in the game would be willing to share with me some information such as typical fees, who typical clients are and frequency of buisness, or anything esle you might think to be usefull. Klauss. Do you have problems with keeping people intact at 20mm? Maybe i shall experiment and see if 18mm might be sufficient with care. Is CA really a problem if it's batch corrected with photoshop profiles first?

http://www.sphericalimages.com/brighton-college-school-360-virtual-tour.htm is the sort of thing id like to aim towards. A superwide fisheye would make it a bit simpler and quicker to shoot. But im wondering if something slightly longer would be sufficient and offer a bit more resolution. E.g one o...

shooting with moving people

When shooting scenes with moving people, i understand that avoiding floating head syndrome is best done by shooting quick and with a wide lens. At the moment I can only go as wide as 18mm on a canon crop body, and the melin head. For shooting around people how wide do you suggest going? I gather the...

Tripod comments

Tripod-wise ive currently just got the one that shipped with the merlin head, and a cheap all in one thing from jessops a few years back. The former i find a little inflexible and has just lost a screw, the later feels a little flimsy, and again inflexible as the legs are joined. I was thinking abou...

Yes there are many forms of image stacking to reduce noise and improve depth of field. Super resolution is related but to distinct to any of these. The source images are combined to increase resolution rather than any of the other available effects by running algorithms which study the finest detail...

super resolution techniques in panoramic photography

I recently briefly looked into super resolution techniques, with a view to their eventual possible use in panoramic photography to increase resolution and reduce atmospheric artifacts. Is this something that anyone else has ever looked into, or even used?

35mm at 21MP full frame gives 3 gigapixels? just pulled up papywizard in simulation mode and it gave my 700MP under that configuration. I'm confused :(

8GB ram should be enough for those sorts of images, however a USB external drive will be extremely slow. Can i ask why you have opted for a laptop rather than another desktop?
