There appears to be no way round it at the moment, I have tried loading gigapixel images but as you have stated it is painfully slow, almost like watching paint dry, so I have given up.

Maybe what you have said about Gigatiler, it could easily become a plugin within APG.

I rewrote the plugin so it uses the Spy value. This way, there is no need to ask the position from 2 threads. What puzzles me is the last test Andrew made: I suspend the Spy during the alternate drive, to avoid the Spy read, and it didn't change anything... is Papywizard using nested threads or loo...

Yes, this is true when your program use 100% of the CPU. But Papywizard sleeps most of the time. The Spy thread asks the head position about 5 times pers second; the main thread, during a move, asks the head status about 5 times pers second (to know when the move is over). And now, during the alter...

Hmm an additional thread, do you think that this thread may possibly be running/slowing things down by running independently?? Can this happen? as I imagine a software thread would take processing time away from the main thread or even pause it for a fraction of a second. thereby the effect is accum...

Samyang is a good lens for the price, I think you have to experiment with your settings. If you are methodical in your approach it should work fine. As for grainy noise!! I'd say look at you iso and your aperture maybe your doing something wrong. Other members maybe able to give you a more definitiv...
