Nice implementation, the thing about low resolution is a pain tho.. as most oneshots have this attribute due to the mirror just being coated plastic and very susceptible to scratches ie very difficult to clean and even re mirror. That's one of the issues I had anyway when using this technology,. How...

Thats interesting Paul, for favourites another way maybe is to input sensor size and then in a similar way to the gigapan method move the camera, so you have apx 30% overlap at the top and bottom, and save this in favourites this also might be feasible.

Thanks for the info AlexandreJ, now starting to get really excited :) hopefully JPEG XR will start propagate really fast once it gains some momentum. I just hope that everyone who implements it sticks to the standard and not implement their own ring fenced version.

Hmm thanks John, it looks as if MS have placed this standard to be Open Source from what I can see under a GNU license... you may be right about Microsoft's attitude, but then again so many standards are proprietary. But is it a free international standard? http://jpeg.org/newsrel26.html Best Gordon

JPEG XR is it really better than JPEG

Hi All, My question is does anyone know about JPEG XR, is it really better than JPEG? what is the maximum file size ie is it possible to go larger than JPEG? and finally can it be incorporated in Autopano or even as a separate plugin to Autopano??? JPEG XR is a new compression format supporting high...

So if I understand you correctly, you are saying that if the CF card is left in the camera at start up, gphoto2 reads it and this slows down the whole start up process, especially if it is a large capacity CF card.
