A more specific question would be know what pixels are being used when fusion occurs. My understanding is that the best exposed pixels are used to create 1 image from the 5 in the bracket. If this is the case then why would you need to select the fusion option in rendering as oposed to say "Anti gho...

APG 2.6 and FUSION ???

This is a general question that I have after finally getting my system to a satisfactory state. Whilst testing bracketed images obtained with the Promote controller ( 5 images per position) I just shoved all (25) into APG to see what the results would be. To my surprize the result was very good. Not...

Hi Klaus, Your post was appreciated. I had tried each of the methods you suggested but did not have any luck. After more experimentation I came up with a workable system where if I use a 2.5 mono plug into the merlin and a 2.5 mono plug into the Promote I get connection and working functions. Any co...

Klaus or George, I have been off the air for a week or two with my laptop and have just got it back and am setting up the promote with the T&C. The problem is that whilst Everything works with the T&c and the promote as standalone, as soon as I plug in a cable from the T&C to the Promote the camera ...

Klaus, Setting up my System to use the T&C controller with a Promote systems unit. Checking if the cable from the T&C controller (3.5mm) to the Promote systems 2.5 input need to be stereo type plug or Mono. As I understand I set the T&C to controll the Merlin head in a mosaic pattern of say 2 rows o...

Destiny, You have me intrigued with the angles and FOV involved with the fisheye lense. Can you tell me what FOV you get for the 1.6 sensor with the fisheye lense you have. Exanple if the diagonal FOV is 180 degrees what is the horozontal FOV in the image on the sensor. I cant work ot how 15 degrees...

Destiny, Picking up from you posts and the replies that you are generating, I went back and did a few tests with my gear and bracketing. PLEASE NOTE THAT I DONT HAVE A FISHEYE and the following refers to a Canon 30D with 60mm fixed lense. I used both the merlin head and my own homemade device that r...

George and Klaus, It would appear that with my workflow, being that I pre process each bracketed set in Photomatix before stitching in APG, I will not need the upgrade to the T&C controller. Having read Klaus' post about misleading information - "What does it mean' I can only say that I agree in man...

Thanks to Klaus and George for their answers. The promote is compatable with the Canon 30D and I have ordered the extra shutter release cable form Promote. Thanks for the insight as to the 3.5 to 2.5 adapter from the TC to the Promote. All a bit clearer now. George, I take it that if I want to use t...

Promote + T&C with Merlin

I am thinking about purchasing a Promote control to use with my T&C controller for extended bracketing on my Canon 30D. I've watched the videos and readthe posts on the forum and whilst I get the general idea of how it will work, I am unsure about the physical connections between the Head, Camera,T&...

Destiny, You and I, and I suspect others, have come to the same conclusion about bracketed shots being stitched within APG. I admit that I dont use a fisheye lens and maybe thats why I find that APG will stitch the single flat fused images from photomatix well. On ocassions I have had to resort to u...

Destiny, A Image that didnt get the exposure correct in the highlights, Shot with IR camera and FUSED through photomatix. Stiched in APG. ( Pano images - 2 rows or 10 with 3 exposures at each position 2 X 10 X 3 = 60 images) Fused images = 20 flat Images APG stitch using defaults. Thought I might ex...

Destiny, Read your post and can confirm that I had almost the exact results using similar software. (Tufuse , Enfuse, Photomatix). My observations were that fusion ( as explained by Klaus) is a blending of the 3 exposed images (-1,0,+1) into a single flat image containing the BEST ? elements from ea...

Hendrik, The new laptop is still being set up what with all the drivers and software for windows 7. Great sound that lets me chill out when things are going wrong. About the fusion process, I may have a wrong concept of the whole process. Is fusing 3 exposures of about -1, 0 + 1 into one flat image ...

Lumelix, Hi and thanks for the reply. I have tried your method, just didnt put it in the workflow description. APG & Bracketed images

Sorry to as what might be a simple question, but I have been going in circles with the testing I have been doing. I read that perhaps its best to process the bracketed shots in an external application before stitching with APG. Tried this and results are inconsistent with those images in APG. I read...

FWIW - I have 2 Canon 30D (1 for IR work) that I use and a QRP would be very good for my situation. It means that I can change cameras with a minimum of fuss and the setiings are almost identical (Lense requirements). If the rail with the QRP could be removed and attached to the horozontal arm as we...

Klaus, Note your comments and I think they also answer my post in "Using APG - Bracketing how does it work".
I read that your workflow is to Fused first and then stitch. Correct? Forget about doing bracketing from within APG. (No slur on APG)

Exposure Bracketing - how it works

I've read the forum questions and replies on this matter but still cant get a definitive answer. New Laptop specifications

Hi to all, I am thinking of updating my old desktop to a new ASUS N53SV N53SV-SX068V Notebook Intel Core i7 2630QM with Win 7 Home Premium. 60 gb SSD drive + 650 GB external USB HDD. I would also run a 21'' external monitor. My focus is not on Gigapixel pano's but smaller mosaics with about 120 x 50...
