Glad its working so well :-) i am reinstalling windows at the moment - onto 8x Samsung 830 128GB with a second drive with 12x Intel 520 120GB as temp/storage - we will see if it will make any difference in producing large pano's I have a little job for a book and we might do two 2x6m prints. Hans,

what did it use to be, how long did it use to take you before, what benefit are you seeing?

I am interest in how two GPU's will affect the performance of working the pano's - i currently have an ASUS 580GTX - 1.5GB

Hans, it does have 4gb but it's slow and only 128bit - so yes it can fill up to 4 gb of video data but you get what you pay for

Hi Leif, I haven't tried with just single drives/SSD - how much ram do you have at the moment? ok just saw that 48gb....;-) i don' think you will need more 3 sets OS/APPS - WIN/AGP/PTGUI/TEMP/PS/SCRATCH/PAGE - STORAGE splitting it up further may make a small difference, but i haven't tried. just rem...

Read again . . . "the RAW files are converted to TIFF". good point. I should read slower ;) But that makes me think what autopano does when I'm using .jpgs.... Does it use the .jpgs directly? Without converting them (to .tiffs or whatever) into the temp space? Should in this case the folder with th...

Thanks Henrik - I guess the problem I have is that for the size of pano I'm considering, the cost of solid state storage is prohibitive. I understand from Alexandre that with 256GB of RAM, panos up to around the 20GP size will render completely in RAM, which will be nice. I was wondering - if I can...

Congrats Hans, I had that idea a few years ago, having two REVO PCIe in the system one for OS and one for Temp, but there was incompatibilities with my board so it was a NO go. I have just added a Areca 1882ix 24 channel to my system and trying to work out how best to configure the system for the be...

instead of building a multi drive set or 2 or 3 arrays build one big one, with say 8x256GB SSD's that will give you 2+GB/s on the LSI-9265-8i
get something like the samsung or intel 520

I like the idea of 256GB of ram too, but you also need to put some thoughts into your storage system, which when done properly will cost you as much if not more the then the actual machine!!! it is your bottleneck otherwise - you can have as much ram and cpu power, it will just cue up and have to wa...

Raid- 5 is not faster then raid-0 the different RAID levels offer or should I say serves different needs for redundancy at the cost of usable space and speed. I have three RAID-0 is my system, I have just added a 24-channel RAID controller with 4GB of cache. currently only 12 SSD's and 8HDD's but th...

when you do the lightroom treatment, do not do lens distortion as the pano program are already or in most cases taking this into account when reading the EXIF info. You may find that you get better stitches without doing Lens distortion, but do, do CA adjustments Great images you have captured I tru...
