hi Hans, looking at various suppliers here they don't even list any of the Cpu's for this board/chipset, i don't know if its different in your neck of the woods? when you need to cross that path of upgrading, you will most likely need to replace mainboard, cpu and your Ram. I always look at ways to ...

4x 16GB for you = 64GB of happiness :-) 12x 16GB would give me 192GB (USD$1800) but atm its only ECC so if your boards does not support ECC, then don't worry about it

the more cores you have the more memory you can feed through the cpu,

Leif, the way i see this is that the Revo should be your scratch disk, because of the better 4k and keep the RAID for large files like project and source files as it performs better in the large file size eg. 16mb results did you do any system tests of your setup, prior to changing your harddrive co...

Hi Leif, what sort of transfer do you get in real life, as if you move or copy files in windows, what does the little window report to you? In the same test as you I get 3-4GB/s probably also due to my 4GB cache, but I really only get 1GB/s when I look at transfers and that is also if I then try to ...

leif,

benchmark, your array and the revo drive and can get some insight into which will do better

atm, i am getting an average 1GB/s transfer on my 6-8 drive array using samsung 8x830 and 2x6x intel 520's (the later is stripped over two controllers)

several boards have 6-7 PCIe slots, but you could run into trouble with the Option ROM on the mainboard, unless the first card will cater for all the cards, I tried with two cards of the original revo, but i could not get it to work on my board. you can have a look at the PTGui speedtest with last e...

ok, i'll be outrageteous as per usual :-) Arca Swiss Cube should solve your problem ;-) it works for me, but as Klaus says if your legs or any other part is weak, then the sum of it all is weak. for legs i use Carbon fibre Gitzo 1548 (yes, its getting old, but can easily carry a 600mm f/4 lens and P...

Hi, you process the image in layers, then go into PS and open it up, at the base you may have a pano with no people at all, and then on the layers above you will have the layers with people on, simply just mask them on each layer till you have an image you are happy with - been doing this before whe...

Thank God for that, ehh I mean Steve  If an iPad were to be connect with such a short cable, it would have to lay down in front of the speaker set... There is an adapter without cable already available. Changing the connector makes sense after about 10 years i guess . . . advanced features need...

I would have to agree with Hans, it devalues your product - they see you click a few bottons and voila there is your pano... they do not think about how long its taken to get to this stage. Then something goes wrong, one you look incompetent. One reason why i could be good to have this option for yo...

Jon, I use RRS as well, and had their gear for the past 10 years+ showing my age. I had the same issue initially, but added the Manfrotto 300N and since also added NN RD-16 but are great, but the 300N has a panning plate on top which sometimes is handy so you can line up your pano. Now i have also a...

would you not still be able to use a template if you shot with the same lens setup? NN uses rotar's as well, so it will always be the same amount of clicks around with n-brackets, save it as template - it will at least give you a good starting point. Provided you follow the same patttern - not that ...
