Mac binary developmental version error AND SVN error.

I downloaded the latest developmental version of Papywizard [ listed as Papywizard_r1836.zip -- MacOS 10.5 binary (experimental bluetooth)] and placed it in my applications folder. When I open it, I get the splash screen and an error dialog. The dialog is titled Unhandled exception Unknown typestr W...

Can't get Papywizard to launch except in terminal

I have ran into this before, don't remember how I got past it :P:lol: I had to reinstall an OS on my eee PC 900 and got Papywizard installed after going in circles a few times. However, when I click on Papywizard (under Graphics), it does it little spinning routine (like all apps in Ubuntu Netbook R...

Ok, this is a ubuntu issue: they now use xxx/lib/python2.6/dist-packages, instead of xxx/lib/python2.6/site-packages in the path... Don't know why. You can fix the problem with the following commands: $ sudo mv /usr/local/lib/python2.6/site-packages/papywizard* /usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-package...

And: $ ls /usr/local/lib/python2.6/site-packages/papywizard/ Could you also give me the result of the install process: $ python setup.py install --prefix=/usr/local (with sudo if needed)... OK - here goes (I assume this one was for me :D ) john@john-eee:~$ ls /usr/local/lib/python2.6/site-packages/...

I uninstalled my old one, learned how to install using SVN, installed and it works great :) This is on my eee PC 900 running Ubuntu Netbook Remix. Only one issue: I can only start the application from the terminal using "sudo papywizard.sh" while in the directory I installed from. :( Any way to fix ...

Tived, I'm in Canberra and those prices quotes were AUS dollars. The batteery life for the EEEpc (Netbook0 is about 3 hours. It depends on if you have it on all of the time and how quick you are at taking the pano. The 12 Volt dry cel will last a LOOOONG time as its 7 amp hours rated. So if you dra...

Cameras that CAN fit in NPP on Merlin/Orion

What cameras can fit in their No Parallax Position (Nodal Point) on the Merlin/Orion without modification of the head? Using a rail instead of the included right-angle bracket is fine. I am particularly interested in Nikon-mount cameras and considering purchasing a used camera to dedicate just for t...

run that by me again John. $350 for en eeepc $350 Merlin head That seems high to me, even in $AUS. $AUS 350 = $US 285. I don't use those cameras, but I do use a Fuji S2, which is very large and heavy. I have mounted it with a Nikon 300mm lens and a Nikon 1.4x teleconverter without problems. However, this was a 300mm f/4.5 lens. Having used a borrowed f/2.8 300mm before on a regular head, I am dubious about using it ...

Où et comment as-tu installé Papywizard ? If my rusty French is correct, you are asking "Where and how did you install Papywizard?" I clicked on the link to download the developmental "Papywizard (svn)" at http://trac.gbiloba.org/papywizard/browser/trunk On that page, I clicked on the "Download in ...

What driver are you using? Serial? Are you sure you have access to the serial port from your account? Serial ports belongs to teh 'dialout' group, so you should add yourself to that group, using: $ sudo adduser <my_user> dialout Then, Papywizard should have access to the serial port. I am using Blu...

Papywizard doesn't start via clicking on app// skips & purple dots

I have put a new drive in my eee, installed a new OS, then installed Papywizard, developmental version. The app shows up under Graphics, but clicking on it fails to launch the app. It looks like it is beginning to launch, but never finishes. I can start the app by typing $papywizard.sh OR $sudo papy...

Since the represent such a tiny minority of computer users, can Mac-users ever be considered 'normal'? ;) Proudly abnormal Mac user since 1984 :D And, yes, Bluetooth is always plug-and-play for me on my Mac, but I haven't been trying to use it for Papywizard. I can understand why someone on a Mac w...

Stress testing eee PC 900/Papywizard/Bluetooth

Now that I am using an Asus eee PC 900 netbook to control my Merlin, I wanted to get an idea of how long the battery would last on the eee as compared to the Nokia 800. My first run stopped unexpectedly after ~200 moves. It seems that Papywizard running does NOT keep the eee from putting itself to s...

Could this be light leaking through the base of the bubble level and upsetting the optical encoders? In any case you shoudl stick some back tape over the underside of the bubble level from insise to avoid such problems. Saw a similar post by you or someone and assumed it a joke...and still assuming...

I think it is 8.10 Ubuntu at this point. I imagine it will be 9 on the Easy Peasy 2.0 that is supposed to be released in the near future. With my lack of familiarity with Linux, I think I will hold off on updating until the new EP 2.0 is out. I think the difference between EP and UNR is the software...

That's a really good solution, that eeepc! About the Graphics group, I chose it (this is defined in the papywizard.desktop file); where would you like to see it, instead? Graphics is probably the best place :) I was curious how it decided and now you have told me it was intentional (not some mind-r...

Papywizard on Asus eee PC 900 (Linux) via Bluetooth!

It took a bit of monkeying around, but I am now able to control my Merlin/Orion/Skywatcher from my Asus eee PC 900. The eee 900 doesn't have Bluetooth built-in, so I purchased a BT dongle on Amazon for less than $5 (SHIPPED! It was $0.01 + $4.95 shipping ) Buy it here: http://tinyurl.com/oasg6...
