Alexandre, Thank you for posting this explanation of the Smartblend algorithm and problem. I had been searching for a better explanation of what is going on without reading through code.

Olihar ... Wow! that is fantastic. I love the colors. Is that a geothermal energy generation plant? It really adds something to the panorama.

Didn't Alexandre say that smartblend is not threaded? Is it GPU enabled? The real gains might be realized when using the multi band blender. Tangent: Though I have noticed some ghosting w/ the multiband blender. It might be a problem with the higher spatial frequency band filters. ( Adelson and Burt...

Olivewhite, where to I start : ) Bravo Bravo Magnifico! The composition of four wonderful panoramas of different seasons is so magnificent! I loved your website and the images. In addition to the wonderful images you used flash in a subtle way. The sounds are subdued. The birds. I just love it. Than...

Mount Hood, Seattle Skyline, Windy days

I have been struggling to deal with the wind during the winter. I have thought about bringing a collapsible wind breaker. Does anyone have any tips for focusing after sunset? J'ai été aux prises avec le vent pendant l'hiver. J'ai pensé à  mettre un coupe-vent repliable. Quelqu'un at-il des trucs pou...

@Machart, I love your panorama of the flowers. The colors and textures are great. It also seems very sharp. If you want to achieve a much larger depth of field, you might use the tilt of a tilt shift lens to change the focal plane as you would with the camera movements {tilt, shift, swing } of a vie...

Karakorum 770 MP, Tone mapped, partial cylinder, krpano

Christian Bloch posted a 770 megapixel, tone mapped, multi resolution panorama that is served with krpano. The famous climber David Breashears captured the panorama as part of the GRIP project. There is interesting information about the limitations for large files and tone mapping snow in the post. ...

A mirror lens is not well suited for this type of panorama. The subject is too close and the narrow depth of field means that you will see the circular bokeh or "doughnut". A mirror lens would be a better choice when the entire length of your subject is far away because of the odd circular bokeh. Th...

Nice work, it is simple and elegant. Thanks for posting the link to the Krpano thread. It looks like the Photomatix Pro details enhancer TMO with adjustments to the strength and light smoothing was used because of the texture of the wood. I have been using the fusion option in version 3.2. If the ph...

My opinion is that krpano works better than zoomify. http://www.krpano.com/ HDview has some very interesting dynamic tone mapping using shader language, but excludes people based on their platform. It would be a good second version of your panorama. There is also seadragon which is not flash based. ...
