Paul, I would consider using something similar to what you mentioned above for video in a studio, but I need something that is lighter and portable for doing time lapse photography. I will make my own as any of the solutions are expensive. I will mount the Merlin on the dolly.

Potential time lapse track and dolly for Merlin

This is a good example of a time lapse track and dolly for Merlin. I need to work on this after I make my cable for my Merlin. I just rcvd the USB TTL USART adapters to make the cables. I have been planning on building something like this. I have recently been improvising using a baby stroller : ) I...

sjhenry, thanks for posting the concise directions along with the screenshots. I appreciate it. I purchased a Merlin and I am reviewing different netbooks. I am glad that you mentioned the minimum screen resolution of 1024 x 768 for the Canon utility to install / or work. I have noticed that almost ...

I like the second because my eyes are drawn first to the valley and then to the balloon. I also like the circular pattern created by the valley, cloud, gap in the clouds where the sun is located, and the pattern of the grass due to the fisheye lens. In the first image my eyes are attracted the cente...

Drslony, you should try Cinepaint fork of gimp. It can edit in 16 bit or 32 bit mode. You do not need to compile it if you run it on certian Linux and BSD platforms. http://www.cinepaint.org/ Enfuse and Tufuse use the Mertens-Kautz-Van Reeth exposure fusion algorithm which uses three criteria to ass...

Jeffery Martin showed me a short 360 video that he shot. He used a shaved Nikkor 10.5mm fisheye lens and used two shots. It was high quality except for at the seams. It was pretty cool.

Thank you for the complements. I have had much fun using the nintendo to do exposure bracketing. I just made some prints a few days ago.

I need to expand the range of exposure bracketing for situations like this. The moon and other lighting is blown out.

Ship and Steel Bridge on the Willamete River HDR

I used the details enhancer in Photomatix Pro with alignment and no crop at 16 bits. I stitched it with Autopano Giga RC1 using smartblend to fix a problem with the clouds. Ship and the Steel Bridge over the Willamete river in Portland, Oregon A krpano partial panorama (derived from other stitcher, ...

Sounds great. I am planning on buying a Merlin / Orion and eventually a netbook Did you see the DSLRRemotePro's use of Autohotkey to automate focus stacking when you are using a Canon DSLR with the live view function? I don't know if any other DSLR manufacturers provide libraries that allow you to r...

Tethered focus stacking and Exp Bracketing on Canon w/ Live View

I was not aware that Breezesys DSLRRemotePro software is capable of automatically focus stacking on Canon Cameras that have the live view feature. You need to use the freely available autohotkey and they suggest combineZM along with a script for controlling the application. http://www.breezesys.com/...

Unfortunately the PanoCam software running on the Nintendo DS will not be as useful for bracketing in brighter conditions. The ability to realize faster shutter speeds starts to become unreliable at 1/20 of a second. The software allows for 1/800th of a second, but depending on the camera you will n...

The nintendo DS lite has wifi capabilities. The custom connector that Steve built has more pins on the connector that could be used for another connecter such as an RS-232 serial port. He does something to control a modified Celestron telescope mount. I created a post advising him that you may be in...

I rcvd the PanoCam software and adapter for the N3 connector on Canon DSLR cameras yesterday and went out and purchased a Nintendo DS Lite so that I could begin learning how to use it. It took me a while to figure out how to use it. You need to be patient and use the diagram while learning how to us...

Portland at Night ( long exposure )

I took the images that comprise this panorama using the CHDK firmware enhancements for the Canon G9 to allow for a long exposure of 32 seconds. I also applied a dark field subtraction to reduce the noise of the longer exposure. I stitched the photos together using Auto Pano Giga Beta 1 using the jpe...
