What about the default color space used by JPEG XR? It should be much larger than sRGB (even larger than AdbobeRGB1998), if we want to use it as an alternative to the RAW format... Implementations of the Jpeg XR standard would have excellent dynamic range and precision of color and efficiency due t...

I asked Bill for permission to post his reply. Hi Stoney, JPEG XR maximum dimensions are 2^32. In practical scenarios, the real limiting factor is the total size of the file, also limited to 2^32 bytes. The maximum image size will ultimately depend on the compression ratio. JPEG XR will allow images...

The ImageWidth, ImageHeight, and ImageByteCount field values are of type unsigned long ( 4 bytes ) and would be 2^32 versus the data type unsigned short ( two bytes ) for the current JPEG standard which is 2^16. So, there must be some other factor that limits the current JPEG file sizes to 30000 as ...

Would it be easy to add functionality to re assemble large tiles that the gigatiler creates? If I cut a 100.000 pixel by 40.000 pixel panorama image into 40 10.000 x 10.000 size tiles to retouch, I would want to reassemble those 40 tiles so that I can create an image pyramid that may not have tiles ...

The subjects that I was photographing were relatively far away ( 200 meters, 460 meters, and 900 meters ) So I was more concerned about being able to handle the mass of the lens than parallax error. In regard to the heavier lenses I did not have problems with the yaw movement. I had problems with th...

Merlin/Orion telephoto lens tests

I tried different lenses to see what the Merlin/Orion head can comfortably handle. I successfully photographed panoramas with a Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L series lens ( 1310 grams ) and a Canon EF 100-400 f4.5-5.6L series lens ( 1380 grams ). The larger Canon 300mm f2.8L series lens was too heavy for ...

I was able to make it render by reducing the number of CPUs. I reduced the number of cpus from 4 to 2 and reduced the APG cache memory to 128 MB. I might be able to increase the cache size as the number of CPUs needing memory is reduced by half. I might also have more L3 cache evictions when I run 4...

Registered, Order @ Teleskop-Austria, How pay?

I managed to register and create an order for the Bluetooth module from teleskop-austria using the Google translate tools. There is an order number and an assigned 'responsible person'. DrSlony, Thanks for posting the link to the hyperdrive by HyperOS. This is probably the best solution for me. New 34 nm Intel 80 GB / 160 GB SSD ( Solid state disk )

Has anybody tried using a solid state disk with APG or APP? I read about the new Intel 34nm 80GB/160GB X18-M & X-25M SSDs. I wonder if they would offer a significant reduction in render times? Intel paid a third party to evaluate the drives and Photoshop CS4 performance, but the operations were a tr...

This is very good to know. I have a 722 image panorama of a football match. I am crossing my fingers that APG handles it by converting it to PNG instead of JPG. awelker, Those connectors with wires might be what I need. I can solder the resistors to the wires on the connectors you posted before I connect them to the pins. Then I do not need to worry about heating and damaging the components on the PCB board.

Soldering 220 ohm resistors to

I have had two of these ftdichip based mini USB to TTL serial boards for a while. I have been wary to try and solder the 220 ohm resistors to the RXD and TXD pins because they are so close together. I have solder that does not contain lead so it does not flow as well. Also, I do not solder very ofte...
