Waiting for the new GigaTiler

When will the new version of GigaTiler (for images wider than 300K) be available for download? It was promised "soon" after the Paris project, when the tool was first used.

It´s actually my gigapixel image :) http://gigapix.no/gigapiksel/881/utsikt-over-troms%C3%B8 The screen looks better in real life, but also the projectors are kind of old. They had to buy 28 of them, and they can´t afford to replace them too often. Still amazing to navigate this image on a wall us...

Will this make me ready to go?

I want the merlin/papywiz-setup, but feel a bit overloaded with info on this subject. So I just want to make sure I get things right, hope you can help me out on this. Cameras I intend to use are Canon 5D/7D/1D-series. Lenses from 300mm+. I live in Oslo, Norway. This is what I have found on the foru...

There are still no support for images larger than 300 000 x 300 000pix in Photoshop CS5, though.

Gigapixel and VR without flash? (on, say, an iPad...)

I really like to display my gigapixel and VR photos on my iPhone, using Seadragon and PangeaVR. I have also seen examples of gigapixel images displayed in the browser using javacript. This will look spectacular on the iPad for sure, using multitouch and accelerator. Are there any good 360 VR players...

']Whoaaa, amazing scenery! Great work! Could you post some detail on the workflow? How was it show, with what equipment? What hardware dod you use for stitching? Thanks! I took the pictures in july 2008, using manual panohead, Canon 40D and 300mm f/4. Approx 2200 shots from top left to bottom right...

Sounds like a good approach. Will you share this tool when it's ready?

How to edit images beyond 300 000 x 300 000 pixels?

As we surely will get there, and Autopano now has it's own file format for gigantic pictures, how is it possible to edit images beyond 300 000 x 300 000 pixels, the maximum Photoshop can handle? What is done with the Paris 20 gigapixel project?

Gimp?

Is Autopano (smartblend) still not compatible with Snow Leopard? If not, can we expect it to be very soon? I've had SL ready to install for weeks, just waiting for this issue to be resolved :(

I would very much appreciate a status update on this.

Gigapixel 360 panoramas

I'm having trouble dealing with my 2 gigapixel 360 panorama. Krpanotools (mac) will not cubify my sphere TIFF or JPEG, even if I compress it to under 2Gb. What kind of limitations are there? I need to cubify the sphere to finish the bottom cube face. And - is it at all possible to present multigigap...

Is Zoomify being developed?

Zoomify may be the best way to present gigapixel images, but I am concerned that there seem to be no development of the product. The Zoomify for Flash only support very old Flash versions, and I haven´t seen any news on the website since the CS3 release. They don´t answer emails. Is this product s...

How much faster is a Mac Pro?

My latest gigapixel image (3,5 Gpix) took about 80 hours to render. After that, about half an hour for every task in Photoshop CS3. I'm still not finished. I used a Mac Mini with a Firewire 400 scratch disc for the APP part (as my Macbook pro and Vista PC froze every time). How much speed improvemen...

Update: I have reprocessed the whole panorama, using more pictures and better raw processing. The image is now 1,0 gigapixel. I will still need to get back there to make this even sharper, though. Hopefully this summer! New picture: http://www.urke.com/stokmarknes/ Old picture: http://www.urke.com/...

If you don't mind my asking, which manual pano head did you use for that relatively large and heavy camera and lens combination? I think the heads with which I'm familiar would have difficulty holding it. I used the Manfrotto 303 SPH multirow pan head. It was not very stable, but it carried the wei...
