But once APG decides its a 360 (or not a 360), it stays that way. Even if you remove all the bad links.

I tried to stitch it even trying PTGui Pro.. same thing.. Comparisons are difficult, many different ways can be followed during optimization, etc. APP/APG has always had more problems with very wide angle rectilinear lenses - compared to other types of lens - I think. A question I sometimes asked a...

Its normal for the left hand column to be empty when you reopen a pano.

My version of APG also shows the Detection in Progress in the left hand column--good catch, I hadn't noticed it. Doesn't seem to hurt anything, so I suggest you submit a bug report and don't worry about it too much.

Photoshop has something similar--content aware scaling and content aware fill. So Alexandre may not be teasing us. We'll have to wait and see.

Sorry about that. For the link that doesn't work, you have to go to this forum's search page and search for "Nadir patch" or similar. This forum doesn't seem to give a permalink for it.

The R10 may be overkill--you don't need the ability to go in a circle, the monopod will turn easily. I've been considering building a "Y" shaped part to put onto my monopod to rest the camera on, but haven't built it yet, its easy enough to hold the camera there by hand. (hold the middle of the lens...

That's the reason I bought a mouse with a wheel :)

AlexandreJ,

How do you want us to handle WIKI spam? if I delete it, the user doesn't get banned and can spam again.

What if you have 3 or more rows? Is it better to limit the line size to the length of one image, or even restrict it to being only on one row?

Sometimes a bad link will cause one image to tilt (roll) a lot, in this case you probably shouldn't make the line cross two images.

I agree with Klaus. and will point out that I don't always use 12mm as the focal length for panos, sometimes I use 24mm on that lens (not always by mistake :) ) And I have other lenses than the 12-24mm and another camera body than the 5D. So the preset for the "force" values is nice, but only works ...

I want a 300mm. But my doubt is about the other features, like AF, AF-S, VR, manufacturer, or any "important" detail, specially for gigapanos. I'm not a photographer and I'm afraid of making a bad choice. Do you think you'll find anything cheaper than the AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR: h...

freeware is not open source, nor is open source (at least its original definition) limited to freeware. There may (or may not) be some tricks used in Giga Tiler that Kolor doesn't want to disclose. tonemapping and color correction, etc are different in panos than in single images. Photomatix has an option for 360's, but I don't know if that's cylindrical or spherical. And APG produces some very large images which PM and other HDR packages may not be able to handle.

Changing lens types is not too hard, but then you have to go in and set the optimization to be "strong" (or whatever) instead of fisheye. I'd like APG to change the optimization when I change the lens type. After all, APG can't stitch one pano that has images shot with both FE and rectilinear lenses.

It would be nice for APG to have an option to say that all the focal lengths are the same, even if APG changes them, each image would have the same focal length. (IIRC if APG detects them all the same initially, it keeps them that way, but sometimes you get a bad link....)

Multiple viewpoints sometimes helps if I shot handheld. I suspect that my lens, and other very wide lenses, may have some of the same issues an 8mm has with center of the optical elements vs center of the sensor. And very wide rectilinear lenses intentionally distort the image to make vertical and h...

Hi Georg, I do shoot with too much overlap, but I can only go down to about a 30% overlap. The issue I'm facing is that this is using a 12mm rectilinear lens. So I've got lots of distortion and a high overlap. But this solution should help people with smaller overlaps. What I hope to do is to have A...

Overlap Minimizer

How about adding a feature that minimizes overlapping regions? I envision that it would work this way: After a normal detection, the minimizer could be invoked automatically (but only if RMS is less than a configurable number and there is no link significantly longer than the average link) or manual...

What counts as "decent"? I got RMS under 6, but some images were severely warped. Note that APP sees the lens as 12mm, not 14. Did a detection for 12mm rectangular lens, detection quality set to high. Image 1 linked to both 6 and 7 but not 2. Cleared the link from 1 to 6, added link from 1 to 2, opt...
