Re: AVP/APG UI and usability gripes & bugs

So, one year after my last bug submission here and with a nagging sensation that my feedback was just tossed into a bug tracker with the lowest priority possible, if at all, let's review this whole list and see what's left and what's has been fixed. I made sure to review all bugs, so please read thi...

Re: 8192x4096 resolution supported? how to set?

Just use uncompressed formats, MP4 doesn't support such high resolutions

Re: Batch Merge GoPro Files

Best solution is to make a bash script to do ffmpeg in order to convert to transport stream and then merge everything
I asked for a better merging tool in AVP some one year and a half ago so don't hold your breath...

Re: AVP/APG UI and usability gripes & bugs

• APG: attached gif, you can see that sometimes all control points are green, then you add some and it will change to actual colors (red). Reproducing this is a bit hard.

Re: AVP/APG UI and usability gripes

• AVP: if patches or whatever graphics are added to the pano in APG, it should be reflected in the stereo options in AVP. At the moment, images will just be blended into both eyes, with shitty results. Sometimes we cheat a 360 by taking pictures of parts of the environment, it's easy to blend it in...

Re: AVP/APG UI and usability gripes

• APG: this has been asked over and over around the forums, please don't ignore this anymore - let us have real masks, with lassoing, bezier, feather, keyframes. This is should totally be priority n.1 on masks, because the current system, no matter how hard you try to make us believe otherwise, DOES...

Re: AVP/APG UI and usability gripes

Very good to know! • AVP: Italian translation, the "don't save" button when there is a pending queue when loading has a label that is too long ("Non salvare"), see attached image • AVP: The pending queue dialog seems to be broken, as not always when I press "don't save"...

Re: Put the .kava file in the cineform.

I had no idea Cineform had these capabilities To further build on your post, since stereographic orientation and alignment is a really problematic aspect of a 3D-360 video, leveraging such metadata could be the key to finding a solution to many issues in playback. For example, if we had the ability ...

Re: "All Video files must have same framerate"

Emeric, sometimes the camera that was misconfigured looked the right way (meaning, not where the action is) and nobody would notice a frame's difference, or the take just needs to last 20 seconds. You being the dev, it's clear that it's up to you, for sure, deciding what is the path of least resista...

Re: (German) Newbie Freedom 360 Explorer Stitching gone very

Nope
The 10 GoPro rig allows for tighter stitches
Also there are the back to back setups with just two cameras with fisheye lenses, but quality takes a hit

Re: "All Video files must have same framerate"

Emeric, thanks for taking time to reply, much appreciated! What I said is not to loosen checks, but loosen requirements and issue a warning. If the video is short enough, problems won't be noticed even with .03 fps difference (29,97 vs 30) in the vast majority of videos. I know that we're dealing wi...

Re: "All Video files must have same framerate"

Since I even had to stitch a converted file from 25 to 29.97 fps once and it went pretty much ok (granted, not much happened in that frame), I'd say +1 for looser framerate requirements!

Re: Template for Nokia Ozo

And please don't take this the wrong way. I love your product and feel it fills a necessary niche in our business workflow. But it seems you are being a little short in regards to your willingness to ensure my success with your product. If it is user error on my part that I can't get a good stitch,...

Re: Loosing sharpness using 6 xiaomi yi

This is true with every camera - you're simply using the same sensor in different ways. I guess the cameras with lower brightness are the ones pointing towards the sun (or the sky), am I right? Usually when this happens you're not using the dynamic range correctly - the image gets exposed for the br...

Re: AVP/APG UI and usability gripes

• APG: in move image mode, current image is the normal one while the others are opaque; when in cut preview mode (I don't know how it's called, the Q button in the bottom left corner of the panorama), the opposite is true. Confusing!

Re: AVP/APG UI and usability gripes

Quickie: • APG: Sometimes a hole appears in our panoramas in a bright sky or something like that, and it's impossible to tell there is one until we're back in AVP or even worse it slips through and we see it in our final render. That's because the background color is always the light grey and white ...

Re: Manual sync

As I stated here, it's a counterintuitive negative timecoding, basically.
I'd say this is a +1 on changing this, it's confusing as hell.

Re: Pre-generate thumbnail videos & sync workflow

You most definitely know your job - Kolor devs, these are great points. +1 on all of them, totally.
Synch is at the moment one of the most important things in stitching and AVP still leaves a lot to be desired.

Point #7 is not comprehensible the way you've written it, tho. Can you rephrase?

Re: AVP/APG UI and usability gripes

A couple more bugs or UI problems: • AVP: Using tab when manually inputing values for synchronization is a hit or miss experience. Can't exactly tell how it breaks, but it will often jump to the first item when pressing tab or it won't change input field at all. And also, using tab won't make the sc...

Re: AVP/APG UI and usability gripes

• APV → APG: there's this problem with generating the panorama name automatically without any other option: if you are not naming cameras with a numeral (i.e. "back" and "forward" instead of cam1, cam2...) you risk ending up with a panorama without a name. • AVP: I always name my...
