Re: Collection of 360° Video Rigs

Thanks. I'm pleased to hear my blog post is useful. I've been adding new 360 cameras as I find out about them and trying to keep it as updated as possible. Its been very interesting to see the market grow so quickly.

Also I added the SimplifyVR rigs to the listing. Cheers!

Re: Render hanging at 99% - server RAM increases until maxed

So this thread is a bit confusing since I was documenting the problem(s) as I was learning more. I think that there are two issues here: 99% freeze ( been addressed ) and network server RAM increasing until maxed out. Below is a summary of that problem. When rendering in AVP I've noticed that the n...

Export to Frames: Use Scene Name - Feature Request

A very simple but important request. It is frustrating that when exporting to frames, just using the frame number is used. (######.jpg)

Instead can the parent scene name be used within the frame filename? (J27_Sphere_WickedReef_s1_edit1_######.jpg)

Re: Render hanging at 99% - server RAM increases until maxed

I should also add that this effect to the network server is cumulative. Meaning if I have 20 scenes in the batch queue, and each scene is 2 minutes long... Then the network server RAM will still slowly increase until maxed.

Burn-in Timecode - Feature Request

Not having burn-in timecode is quite frustrating. I have many different takes within one long shot. So after rendering a 1k preview, I'll watch the footage and begin to edit it. But when I need to go back and render the approved sequences to 4k, then I need to know the relevant global timecode so th...

Re: Render hanging at 99% - server RAM increases until maxed

I'd like to check-in and see if anyone from the development team is available.

This is a fairly serious issue that will only become more prevalent as more big production houses (using a network file server) begin to use AVP.

Re: Render hanging at 99% - MP4 rebuild/tagged related?

I believe that I've narrowed down what the problem is. Yesterday I started a GPU render and a few hours later noticed that my network file server was responding slowly. So I VNC-ed and I look at the RAM usage and saw that it was very high. Time to investigate... In the previous post, I mentioned hav...

Re: Render hanging at 99% - MP4 rebuild/tagged related?

I experienced this issue again, but the footage was only a 1 minute scene. It was part of a large batch render queue that was to render over the weekend. So it hung like this for at least one day. This is really hurting my workflow... Screenshot - http://i.imgur.com/ns42wV2.png I just now tried to a...

Spelling Mistake in GUI [SOLVED]

When opening up a fresh instance of AVP, if you have any jobs in the render queue that were unfinished, then it will bring up the following prompt:

"Some unfinished renedering tasks have been detected. Do you want to render them?"

Collection of 360° Video Rigs

It is fascinating to see all the different approaches to capturing 360° video. So I surveyed the current 360° video rigs being offered and then organized every serious option into an epic listing. I hope it's helpful!

Re: Cannot Render Larger Than 8192x4096

Even when rendering with frame, I cannot go larger than 8192x4096. I can't type in a larger number even though the "maximum size allowed by source" says 8274x4137.

RAM Preview - alongside quality settings

In AVP 2.0.0 Beta2, I'm enjoying the addition of the quality settings for realtime playback. And it made me realized that it would be very useful to have a RAM preview. Just like in After Effects, how it loads the RAM with as much rendered footage as possible and then plays it back in realtime. The ...

AVP 2.0.0 Beta2 x64 (licensed) = I cannot select a resolution higher than 8192x4096.

AVP 1.7.1 x64 (latest gold release, licensed) = This problem for GPU renders still persists

Cannot Render Larger Than 8192x4096

When setting up a spherical render, I cannot go larger than 8192x4096. I've tried it both with the CPU and GPU selected but there is a ceiling in place. The "Maximum size allowed by source" says 8274x4137, but I cannot reach past 8192x4096. I'd love to see if GPU rendering larger than 8192...

Frame Output - Filenaming

When rendering to frames, currently AVP applies just the frame # to be the filename. This is causing some minor confusion in my workflow within After Effects, where the frame sequence filename is helpful for quickly understanding what the content is. Its also vital for maintaining version control. I...

Re: Spherical GPU Render - Kicks to CPU for >8k output

Gotcha, I figured this was a tricky problem. Thanks for the info. Yes having a setting that unlocks the resolution cap would be helpful. But first, what are the dangers? If the GPU memory fills to capacity, will the GPU or system crash? Is there a possibility of data corruption or overheating? Sorry...

Re: Spherical GPU Render - Kicks to CPU for >8k output

I understand there is some good technical reasoning behind this decision, but it is a surprising limitation. I made sure to get a graphics card with enough GPU RAM to cover very large resolution renders. But I'm hitting the AVP resolution ceiling before the GPU RAM ceiling. ( Using half available GP...
