Good qustion and I am sorry that I haven't complete answer. The mast is visible and the foot print from the Orion head is quite large. drive-on system is a metal bracket, you can drive on it with your car and then the mast is fixed in the position. The nice thing is that you can level the vertical part of the system in 2 directions so even when the surface is not level the mast is in vertical position. http://www.martin.kulhavy.inf...

hmm looks good why did you choose them? This because you say that they are expensive. I was looking was a solid and stable solution. I knew Total Mast Solution from the Focus on Imaging Exhibition. The other options were only based on a search on net (e.g. http://www.easyupmast.com/ap1500.php ). My...

Let me know if you need more details. I live in Birmingham, but I have the mast in the Czech Republic now. I plan to have the mast back here in UK at some time in summer.

So is my understanding correct that the 020781 more accurate, but slower in movements on "longer distance"?

I have done couple more tests with the following observations: BT or wired connection produced almost identical results on 020781. When I press the blue arrow in Papywizard then the speed is identical in 020681 and 020781 (so I was wrong in my first post). The difference is in the "Goto reference": ...

Surprising test results for 020781 firmware

I have run some tests to check the 020781 firmware: Test settings: external DC 12V, 0.5s stabilisation, each panorama starts as 0°,0° Alternate drive ON for 020681 (7° drive angle, 1° intertia angle) and OFF for 020781. Test 1 - internal preset 4@0 + Z + N: 020681: 1:45 020781: 2:45 Test 2 - 50mm pr...

Claude,
can you please send me the xml preset "10 x 10 = 100 pics STD conditions as defined by Andrew"?

I would like to run couple tests to confirm the speed changes in the upgrade from 020681 to 020781.

Thanks Martin

Well, I have paid £1900 for the mast. You are right, it is "a little bit uncomfortable" to carry. I was thinking about some trolley. Re autofocus. What I meant is that I cannot focus manually. DSLR Remote Pro can autofocus. For my work it actually doesn't matter since I use higher aperture numbers ...

So your USB cabling from your laptop to the camera comprises three USB active extenders - is that correct? How do you ensure that these cables do not become disconnected from each other nor from the camera - because I imagine that this 15M cable is quite heavy and the USB connector on most cameras ...

How long does it take to setup and raise the mast ready to shoot? It is not point and shoot. I would say about 40 minutes. Most of the time is needed for carrying all equipment to the place. Did you find it easy to get appropriate insurance? Good question. I have no insurance (yet). I took photos f...

12.5m telescopic mast

I have been quiet for last couple months , but that doesn't mean that I was not working on my secret (till today) project. Two days ago, I have finally finished first tests with a new toy: 12.5m long telescopic mast. Folded mast is about 2.5m high (camera is on top): http://www.autopano.net/wiki-en/...

Okay,
I have the DC adapter now. I have removed the batteries and plug the DC adapter in the middle hole and everything is working perfectly.

I concluded to the same result. I will by the DC adapter in couple days, then I test both holes. If there will be no more posts from me then it didn't work.

The current crown is about 50mm, but as I said it is not easy to measure that witout disassembling.
The new crown with the 357 plate is 40mm (quite accurate measurement) so in aggregate it is 10mm closer to the motor.

I am having the same problem. The manual says "always use the lower hole" (see the first post here in this topic for more details), but your experience says use the middle hole. I did some measurements and from them it looks that it shouldn't matter as the middle hole contacts are connected with the...

The 357 plate is part of my old Manfrotto 303 SPH head. The 357 plate is 23mm wide. The crown is 17mm wide (acording the scheme), so it makes 40mm together.
It is not easy to measure the current crown, but I guess that the gain could be slightly below 10mm.

I am a little bit lost now.
I have checked the log and it says firmeware version=020581 , so I guess that I need an upgrate.

What do I need for this upgrate? I guess that I need a cable and fixed firmware.

Thanks for your help.
