ThomasV wrote:Hello,

I really don't want to use Growl for APG, and wonder why it's even trying to use it as it's not a standard part of OSX.

APG doesn't use Growl.

Maybe Growl intercepts some system notifications. Did you try to pause Growl ?

Regards,
Thomas

Pausing or quitting Growl doesn't make it go away.

Growl error panel pops up with every beep

I did a search on this and didn't fin anything, so I wonder if I'm alone with this... Whenever the app (APG 3.0) wants to sound a chime, I get the attached error panel that I must manually dismiss. For the record, I have the newest Growl installed on my system, which is a cleanly installed new 27" i...

Can we somehow achieve that upgrading to a new version won't trash all preferences? I just upgraded and not only was my registration file gone, but so were all preferences, including the naming formats of panoramas etc. Happens every time and is super annoying.

APP strips the color profile out of the resulting pano. If your input images are say ARGB or ProPhotoRGB, when they come out of APP they are untagged, i.e. "screen". You need to go back to PS and re-assign the profile. This has been a bug ever since and has been "to be addressed soon", but fortunate...

I have just sent you an email with link to a project that shows most likely the same crash. It's not related to memory in any way, just clicking a button reproducibly blowing up the app, just as zedzed states. Based on the description it's the same issue, no with my pano assets you should have a rep...

Does anyone have any other suggestions? Using a "virtual" TSE lens is nice, but it requires a wider angle as you have to point the lens up and you'll end up missing the foreground. Umm....you have to take several pictures, stitch them, and then crop. Ok maybe I am too stupid, but that's what I did:...

I just re-took the pictures with the nodal point properly set. To prove it, I have included an object really close in the picture and one can verify that it registers perfectly across the two images where it can be found. Yet the results are the same, with kinks in the building. Does anyone have any...

No I didn't bother with the nodal point, because if I don't shift the lens (as the only difference) I don't get this funny look.

Your CS4 merge looks exactly like what comes out of APP with smartblend. There are kinks in the house that aren't there otherwise. Unshifted it looks "good".

Wacky tilt-shift results

I was playing with the new Canon 17TSE lens. One of the things that I wanted to try is to do a pano while the lens is shifted up. As in, not the usual "shift left, shift right" style TSE pano, but more like "I have to shift up to get the whole building in, now I also pan". The results were let's say...

This is one of the many Qt crashes. Use the 32 bit version and chances are your life will be MUCH ... less exciting :)

APG creates an EXIF tag that provides HFOV and VFOV data for partial panos that is read by APT to set these values properly. If you post-process panos before importing them into APT then this data will probably be lost and you will then have to enter those values manually. Well I sorta have to post...

While I do have APG, I never figured out how to get APG / APT to work together. I guess I didn't try hard enough. I'm not sure what you mean by 'work together' - APG and APT are separate programs. But APT could not be much easier to use IMO; although it cannot yet handle very large pano images. Wel...

It may be low priority because it doesn't break anything, but it's very annoying because it happens _every time_, and god forbid you want to see thumbnails of your stitched images in an app of your choice - everything looks flat and ugly, and loading a single image that's 1GB in size just to assign ...

I am using Zoomify. Cheap, and pretty good. And you don't have to have APG. A default viewer comes even with PS.

Won't the color information be lost then? Would it be best to do sRGB and the reassign the ICC in Photoshop? No. Just do what you do. Converting the image would strip the color info. However, you should use "wide" color spaces only with 16 bit tiffs, as otherwise you're introducing banding. ICC awa...

No it doesn't work better on 10.5.7, the problems are in Qt and so the OS really won't change much. Hardware configuration has much more to do with product stability than people think. Since I switched from my MacPro 1st gen to the current Nehalem generation, apps that used to work just fine are no...

Good answer phototrek. The main advantage of the 64bits version is to be able to make really bigger panorama ! Now, it's not that stable as the 32 bits version based on carbon yet. What was the point of releasing the mac 64 bit version of APP? it crashes just doing nothing but being opened on the d...

I registered the 64 bit version just fine, and settings stuck. The problem is that the 64 bit version keeps blowing up left and right in Qt code, which makes it barely usable. You could theoretically set up the system with 32 bit and then use the 64 bit, as the preferences domain is the same. I have...
