Re: Autopano runs, but does not open window

I had something similar, it was Avast! AV seeing APP and doing its analysis of the programme. Unfortunately I couldn't see that it was doing that check, outwardly it just looked like APP had stalled. I reinstalled Avast! and all was fine.

Oddity with .pano hover-over properties, Windows

A very minor point... In Windows File Explorer if I hover the pointer over an Autopano .pano file I see various properties shown. For those panos that use a fisheye projection this is not shown correctly, it is depicted as 'Not defined'. Other types of projection work fine. The xml for one that work...

APP 4.2 won't open - Avast AV implicated

Just now I double-clicked on the AAP 4.2 icon on my Win10 desktop, and the only thing that changed was the pointer became an hourglass. I left it a while, then checked Task Manager, there were no process relating to APP at all. Other programs started fine by double-clicking, but the hourglass was st...

Re: How do I stop Google+ trying to show images as photosphe

I don't know where it is stored - although there appears to be a lot of XMP data visible to Photoshop, including what looks like data that only APP would know at the time of stitching... The difference between the screenshot above and a file created by an earlier version of APP consists only of the ...

Re: How do I stop Google+ trying to show images as photosphe

*** Edited after your edit*** By 'flat' I meant an image that can be printed on a piece of paper or viewed like that, as opposed to one you interact with in order to view. Any image can be printed on a piece of paper. Klaus is talking about image projection type. I know. I initially wondered why Go...

Re: How do I stop Google+ trying to show images as photosphe

So how does it detect a stitched image ? Maybe by detecting it as equirectangular 2:1 image? Klaus It appears to be the GPano values. Possibly only the UsePanoramaViewer one, I will do some more experimentation. *** Edited*** Confirmed - deleting the UsePanoramaViewer item means that Google+ treats...

Re: Provide Support for Photosphere XMP Metadata

This looks like a good place to request that the Photosphere XMP metadata is not added automatically! Or at least that it can be turned off, since with it embedded I find that Google+ can't display my uploaded images as intended. At the moment I have to manually delete the google.com stanza so that ...

Re: How do I stop Google+ trying to show images as photosphe

After some poking around it seems that Google+ creates the information to show an interactive pano automatically if it detects a stitched image. So how does it detect a stitched image? I looked at one of the files in Photoshop and in the 'File info' dialog there is the following: http://www.infrared...

How do I stop Google+ trying to show images as photospheres

I've just added a couple of new panoramic images to Google+, and it appears that the default behaviour to show the image is now to treat it as some sort of interactive photosphere-type image. These are simply flat images that happen to be stitched via APP 3.5.1, the attempt at showing it interactive...

I did try APP on a pair of test images where one is B&W, one in colour, same scene but different cameras. The auto-detection finds plenty of control points, but for some reason the preview than has alignment differences. I will persevere with that. I just revisited the PS layer alignment options and...

Blending images from different cameras, different eras...

Back in the 70's my mum had a number of postcards of scenes in my home town, these went back before the First World War. Since I was just starting to take photographs she persuaded me to take 'modern' images of those scenes, and eventually many of these were published in a number of 'then and now' b...

foundation wrote:Isn't this thread about GPU performance loading images in the editor very slowly? or should I start a new one?

Well, I started it and my observation was that enabling the GPU *appears* to result in a much slower rendering when the editor screen opens. So you are in the right place :)

I just tried a small test. I started GPU-Z logging to a file, then selected some images, went into edit mode, moved the vanishing point, hit 'preview', then closed it all down and stopped the log. I did this twice, once with GPU enabled, once with just the CPU. There is very little difference betwee...

So is it possible to say that using the GPU for previews is only worthwhile if it is faster than a certain level? I would assume that the GTX 670 above is fast enough to be an improvement over using the CPU alone, and obviously there are benefits when using more than one editor at the same time. I g...

Thanks for the input. I think that while the panos I make can still be previewed 'instantly' (i.e. much less than a second for a 360x180 image) using just the CPU then I will only be wasting power and creating noise if I install a dedicated card. That GTX 670 uses up to 170 watts, while my almost-si...

I see what you mean... although benchmarks such as PassMark make it pretty close, 605 for the 8800 GTS compared to 593 for the HD 4600. On Surlix it gives the 8800 GTS 1100 points and the HD 4600 859. So a gap, but not a huge gap. Which is why I was expecting the 4600 to be ok. I wonder at what poin...

New Haswell build - should using the GPU be so slow?

I have now completed the build of a new machine using an Intel 4770K and 32 Gigs of memory, plus an SSD My previous machine was a Dell Studio 15 with an earlier i7 processor and 8 Gigs of memory. As expected Autopano Pro is very fast indeed compared to the previous machine. I have just upgraded to 3...

Hi, Do you use a fisheye or a non-fisheye objective? All my panos use a Samyang 8mm vertically on a Pentax K-7. That lens works extremely well in IR once allowance is made for the different focus of IR wavelengths. That was adjusted by loosening the focus ring and setting it so that infinity on the...

I think the filter is put on the sensor and not on the lens. The main drawback of this technic is that you have to modify your camera. Once the filter is put on the sensor, you can't use it the normal way anymore. Am I right Karma mechanic? Correct - this is a modified camera. Originally the sensor...

I have uninstalled FastPictureViewer codec so that thumbnails are built natively - this means that PSD files show an icon instead of a thumbnail but the population of thumbnails into a view is faster. Opening 'select images' against a folder that normally gives ...

Although the problem is repeatable it isn't completely repeatable, in that some folders will open perfectly well a few times. Changing the view of the folder can trigger it, and that seems to be particularly the case if it has just been opened and the thumbnails are still catching up. At the moment ...

Then I erased the originals and copied the data back to the HDD. I also scanned the HDD for file system errors, nothing found. Then after op...
