Re: Nodal Point calibration with high focal length

Hi lumelix, hi klauss, thanks a lot for your replies. It is hard to use the near point and far point of the church for NPP calibration: infact the whole range is from about 30 to 60 meters. And here is the problem: with 200mm lens the NPP varies a lot with focus distance but I can't use an aperture ...

Re: Nodal Point calibration with high focal length

Hi lumelix, sorry for my late reply. I will calibrate again the NP of the Micro Nikkor 200 (checking the no parallax point using a vertical line in the foreground and one in the background) and I will check also if it is congruent with the informations made by Pierre Toscani (that web site is incred...

Re: Nodal Point calibration with high focal length

Hi Klaus, first of all congratulations for your image: it is great! Is it an HDR image? How did you do for focus issue: manual, af assistant ...? In my work I will do just the panorama of the ceiling vault (not the full sphere) with my D800E with Nikon AF Micro-Nikkor 200mm f/4D ED-IF, so (for the t...

Re: Nodal Point calibration with high focal length

Hi Klaus, my head is this one: http://www.dr-clauss.de/en/foto-studiotechnik-3/rodeon-vr-station-series/item/187 The difference with the "perfect" calibration, I think is about 10cm along focal axis, so I don't know if multiple point could work. Another idea: I make a perfect calibration t...

Re: Nodal Point calibration with high focal length

Thanks for your reply! That was my first idea but I work with a Clauss HD and technicians told me it could damage the engines of the head. So the second idea (if mutiple point doesn't work properly, but I really hope it will!) could be to take two partiale panos and stitching them as one: where can ...

Nodal Point calibration with high focal length

Hi all, I have to make a panorama of a ceiling vault of a church and I will use a 200mm lens. The problem is that I can't make a perfect nodal point calibration because when I point on the zenith the sliding bar with the camera body would beat against the head structure. My question is: do you think...

So do you think my problem is in the gap beetwen ideal geometry and real geometry of photography? Hi Leonardo Exactly! Your graphic shows it very nice. In theory you use a pinhole camera in (O). If you shoot this wall with a pinhole camera, you get exactly straight lines all over the image. But you...

Yes Klaus,
this is a perspective from O! So do you think my problem is in the gap beetwen ideal geometry and real geometry of photography?

Hi Klaus, and Hi all, yes I've tried with horizontal and vertical lines but without success. I was thinking about gnomonic projection, and I made a geometrical model of my wall. I was sure that curved lines in a gnomonic projection should depend by the distance from the principal point (named Oo). B...

Ok Andrew! so if the FOV is low I have real rectilenear line that are projected in rectilinear line in the plane. In my pano probably the FOV is very high and so lines far from the principal points are curved. At this point what do you think I can do? Probably the solution is to take again the panor...

Hi Leonardo For creating real orthophotos you need measured control points and a special software. It's because the software must know the distances to the points in the picture. Have you considered the nodal point of your camera/lens-combination ? For creating orthophotos, some experience isn't wr...

My problems is that I can't correct the strong deformation in th high part of the panorama (marked in red in my snapshot). I've tried to use vertical and horizontal correction and also the transformation tools (yaw, pitch and roll) without any result. I am sure that the wall is almost a perfect rec...

Hi all, I am a new Autopano user and I've started a new big project to create a Giga photo. I am trying to do an ortophoto (so I need a planar projection) from a panorama made by 224 pictures. All the pictures are taken with a GigaPanEpicPro, and I've used a D800 with a tele 200mm focal lenght (thi...
