If I were Samsung I would create a think tank to develop new ideas and patenting everything they can from triangular or hexagonal corners to 3D lazar hologram technologies.. Apple think tank newest idea: :P Hey let's patent "rectangular" and "physical object"! I hope nobody will patent any "alphabe...

Read again . . . "the RAW files are converted to TIFF". good point. I should read slower ;) But that makes me think what autopano does when I'm using .jpgs.... Does it use the .jpgs directly? Without converting them (to .tiffs or whatever) into the temp space? Should in this case the folder with th...

a link to that thread would be interesting for me... http://www.kolor.com/forum/p83295-2011-05-18-06-12-47#p83295 so if this project does have the budget, I would take 2 LSI RAID controller where 8 SSds each can be connected to a RAID0 and would use 160 GB SSDs so 2.8TB in sum are available. ... or...

I´m afraid i don´t understand . . !? I think I've read this here on the forum, I could be wrong, please correct me in this case: When you load your .jpgs into Autopano to render the panorama, autopano will convert all your pictures into .tiffs (as soon as you start rendering it), save it on the t...

HansKeesom wrote:... to save space on SSD I would place them on HDD.

I thought so, because the .jpgs which are loaded into autopano are converted into .tiffs and put in the first temporary space anyway (SSD in this case) and are used from there. That's how I atleast imagine it to work.

Regards and thanks again!

first question : System A is better Second question : OS on SSD is nice on startup but rather unimportant when running. Therefore OS on HDD is fine. Thanks for the fast response! I forgot one questions (I think I already know the answer but I want to be sure) Does it make a difference where (SSD vs...

Specific question on building a gigapixel rendering machine

Hi I'm building/upgrading a computer just to render nearly 10'000 Pictures, 36.2 MP each. Some of you already know about our project other don't, but that's NOT the topic here. Also I do NOT want to go into discussions if it will be possible to render it or not. All I want to know and have some opin...

Neutralhazer in Autopano Giga

Hi I'm using APG and I use the Neutralhazer that comes with it. I wanted to know what would happen if I would use the Neutrahazer a bit too strong. Well the result was overall better than expected. There is just one part in the panorama that totally kills it. Near the horizon: http://img6.imagebanan...

They had a giant hardware with 192G RAM ... it helped for that task. ...christmas is still far away :( They might have shot the city very carefully using a long focal length then shot the sky at wide angle to get it done quickly, then used all the shots to create a single pano. Would that be possib...

On top of that I would also suggest to NOT include part of the panorama where it is JUST blue sky. Just to show you a prominent example: http://img6.imagebanana.com/img/f16l21jd/Sevilla111_91.jpg IMHO one can debate about the "water part" but not the "sky part"... Everyone can take a super high reso...

I was referring specifically to comparing a 360x180 to another 360x180. In that case there is no way for confusion. I guess you're absolutely right about that. If you are serious about claiming any kind of record, then anything other than shooting the sky at the same resolution as the "interesting"...

I had the same problem: http://www.kolor.com/forum/t15211-gigapan-import-goes-crazy.autopanogiga-2.6.3-mac-64bit like in your case it says that it is a 360° Panorama... EDIT: sometimes putting in a higher number on the overlap feature on the gigapan import helped in my case. Type in 60% of overlap, ...

Suggestion on how to estimate the size of a Gigapixel Panorama

Hi I noticed that people don't really agree on how to count pixels on gigapixel panoramas. Perhaps the most prominent example is the "Shanghai 272 Gigapixels". The author himself says: Estimated optical pixels: 112G pixels Wikipedia says: Pixels: 272,312,102,608 [which is 272 GP] How can this be? .....

Adding "fake" sky to a gigapixel panorama

Hi I'm talking about this picture: http://www.360cities.net/london-photo-en.html I guess (and please correct me if I'm wrong) they shot a high resolution image of the city and then put a lower resolution image of the sky on top of it. IMHO they didn't shot the sky the same way they shot the city, th...

Hi gddxb No. Everything will be in focus from 350m to infinity if you set the focus on the lens to the hyperfocal distance . This is what you typically would want if you were shooting outdoors. It's rare to need to keep infinity in focus if you're shooting indoors. Clearly, if you were shooting an i...

So it seems the 1: 16 ration is already dangerzone. Hi Hans I will share some experience with you: Last week I rendered an image that I thought it would be impossible to do, but it worked. Here are the specs: 1'083 Pictures * 36.2 MP * 4 = 153 GB Temp Space 153 GB Temp Space / 4 GB RAM = ratio 1:38...

350 rows and 25 columns. Column by column. Lets say I would load everything into Autopano. Then open the editor-viewer and cut the panorama in such a way that it would just render the first third of the whole panorama. Then doing the same for the second third and the third third. Then I would have 3...

Depends on how the photos were made. Lets say they were taken in a regulard grid. And the Field of View is nearly 360° (but not stiched at the ends, so it isn't a 360° panorama) and vertically nearly 40° But give it a try yourself, see what happens if you make 900 photos and try to stitch them 300 ...

How to render a gigapixel in 3 Parts ?

Hi I just read the following at the wesite [hr /] www.sevilla111.com/comosehizo_en.htm In mid November we started the final rendering of 3 files in total which took about 100 hours, that is, over 32 hours each. The rendering took a whole week, because we had to turn off the computer, clean the memor...

very easy - look at Paris 26 Gigapixel: zooming in to 100% doesn´t show any artefacts. That must be the goal: absolutely "clean" @"true"100%. Not more, not less. Well that's very subjective, to say the least... There should be a way of mesuring it by calculation... Otherwise there would be an endl...
