Re: APP v4.0 crashes after detection every time [SOLVED]

OK, thanks for the very quick response. I went to the Intel page, downloaded the latest driver for the integrated Intel HD graphics, re-installed APP4, and - it worked perfectly. Thanks for the super fast help, excellent support. Here's the output (much reduced)... venicefullwidth_600.jpg Regards Ni...

Re: APP v4.0 crashes after detection every time [SOLVED]

Hi Destiny, my system is as described in the original post: PC with Win7pro (64 bit) with SP1, Intel i7-4790, 32Gb RAM (sorry not 16 as stated), 1Tb Samsung 840 SSD (and a 2TB HDD), ASUS Z97M-plus motherboard with onboard Intel graphics (no separate graphics card installed). It is a very fast and st...

APP v4.0 crashes after detection every time [SOLVED]

Newly installed APP v4.0.0 on newly-built desktop with Win7pro, i7-4790, 16Gb RAM, 1Tb SSD, ASUS mb with onboard graphics. After installation registration page works - successful. Load 5 images (Canon 5D3 24MP jpegs), detected, right hand pane shows panorama, then go to edit, the new window opens wi...

Windows 7

Hi

there are some posts here reporting problems with APP under win7. As I'm planning to buy an i5-based machine with 6Gb ram and windows 7 (I can choose home premium or pro), am I likely to encounter problems or will this "just work" with latest version APP?

Thanks

No HDR, no RAW. Just 4 handheld images on manual, with the camera held through railings and rotated around its centre point! Plus some careful work in Photoshop with Shadows. it was a very gloomy day which helped control the contrast. I didn't have my 5D with me, just the G9!

Even a tripod - these are probably single row and longish focal length with no foreground to worry about. Perfectly do-able handheld but for a beginner a levelled tripod would be ideal.

A lovely pano, very atmospheric and captures the mood perfectly. The verticals on the buildings towards the right hand side are not quite right and could probably be easily corrected.

And again from the ferry, the Manhattan and Brooklyn bridges (one of the "waterfall" scultpures is at the left). 5D, 70-200, 2 images handheld

New York

Downtown Manhattan and Staten Island ferry.

I would not have attempted this before APP with Smartblend!

Canon 5D, 24-105, handheld, 3 images from a moving platform - the Circle Line ferry boat.

I still prefer my 5D, but the G9 wins "hands down" on portability. The 3 images were taken through double-glazed windows on the 6th floor of the QEII conference centre. The biggest difficulty was avoiding reflections, as the interior lights were on! It is great vantage point, but this is about the l...

I have been very pleasantly surprised by the G9. Substantially better IQ than the G7, and your panos show this very well. My first G9 pano taken on a very grey day has excellent tonality and is very sharp. Yours are better - I have always loved Paris in the winter whereas London is just usually mise...

London pano with Canon G9

I think the G9 may be a very nice travelling companion for quick panos. Taken through glass from the 6th floor of the QEII conference centre in Westminster. Because of the high winds, the Eye wasn't turning, which helped.

3 handheld images, 1/40 @ f4, ISO 100, Canon G9, APP v1.4.0

Here's the original pano, followed by what APP v1.4 did when I first tried it! The only way I could get it to stitch was to process it in two halves, then join them. Small planet transformation by the usual method, of course :)

Certainement une belle pano. J'ai essaye un passage seul dans Noiseware Community Edition (software gratuit) et le bruit est facilement repare.

I like the second very much, a beautiful rendition. The first, unfortunately, is spoilt for me by the actual sky colour being denser than the reflected sky in the moat - a giveaway for the grad - and as a result looks somewhat unnatural.

Arounder magazine

I have no connection whatever with this, but found it through panoramas.dk http://www.aroundermagazine.com/milan/index.html It's an online magazine with "pages" showing panos or parts of panos, and you can click on "360 gateway" to link to a QTVR full 360 pano. I was impressed. Nigel

No need for another trip, they've got all the photos already - handheld panoramic sweeps with the Hasselblad (on manual, with predetermined exposures) were part of the brief, it's just taken until now to have the stitching software to do the job properly.
