Re: Adobe will finally kill Flash in 2020

To Destiny: I moved to v2 as soon as it was released, and have not made any 1.8 panos since. But I'm talking about the 200+ panos made before v2 was released. I wasn't borne yesterday, I've seen software come and go. But I have seldom seen a more harsh transition than Kolor did from 1.8 to v2. Examp...

Adobe will finally kill Flash in 2020

I have 200+ panos online made with PTP 1.8 (and before), which requires adobe flash. At the time nobody thought panos made with PTP 1.8 would be killed in 2020. Now this is a fact, https://www.theverge.com/2017/7/25/16026236/adobe-flash-end-of-support-2020 So what are Kolor going to do ? Leave the d...

Re: It takes forever to start APG

I've done som trials, and it goes like this: start APG 4.4 - abort by "end process" after 30 minutes !! start APG 4.4 - 4 seconds, exit start APG 4.4 - abort by "end process" after 10 minutes !! and so on I tried to reduce the "memory used" from 113GB to 31GB, but it di...

It takes forever to start APG

Win 7 ultimate 64bit , 2x Xeon 2660, 128GB RAM The PTP 2.5 has had this malady, but I have exptected it to be fixed by the the next version. Now I've "upgraded" APG from 4.2 to 4.4, it adds the same malady to APG ! My PC got 32 kernels, and as shown in the image 1 of the 32 kernels is work...

Batch rendering - not releasing RAM ?

I have edited three panos, spheres 92 images each. Then I've started batch rendering, and watching the resource monitor. It seems to me that the batch rendering does NOT load and process one by one. It looks like all are kept in RAM and rendered without releasing the finished rendered pano. Even wit...

Re: The need for speed

I've browsed through the thread, and noticed your focus on editing. My post is more on rendering and especially on the timeconsuming anti-ghost rendering. I rendered the same speedtest as you and the result is seen below. The only setting changed is simple vs anti-ghost. The total time increases fro...

The need for speed

I have a workflow that suits me for outdoor spheres, shot with a "normal" lens. To shorten the time I've built me a computer with 2x Xeons and 128GB RAM, rather expensive and not fast enough ! It takes approximately 19 minutes to render this sphere (90 images). So what is it doing for this...

Re: Scaling for lowres image on highres display [SOLVED]

I've tried the guide in http://www.kolor.com/wiki-en/action/view/Panotour_-_FAQ_-_Building_the_tour_and_the_software_itself#What_is_NOT_supported_by_HTML5_player_.3F I've expanded the cylinder to a sphere adding black on top and bottom. I've altered the registry (win7 64bit) as described in http://w...

Re: Neutralhazer and big files ... old problem ... no soluti

I bought it, used it and was not very happy. I think it's 32bit and hasn't been updated for years.
Now I do the dehazing in DXO as a part of the raw developing. Works fine :-)
The money for Neutralhazer was wasted :-(

I shoot raw, develop in DXO pulling shadows caring for the highlights correcting optical flaws vignetting reducing haze etc, stitching in APG, making cube-faces using krpano, fixing the nadir in Photoshop, making sphere from cube-faces using krpano. final touch in Photoshop before PTP. This workflow...

Re: How to prevent control points in sky

the magic formula is revealed below :) 10 click -> 36 degrees, which is fine for a 30mm ff eq lens in portrait mode. I have to lower the pole to change the pitch one click. The foot-plate makes it easy to continue approximately at the same yaw for each row. leifs btw: the image of the rotators does ...

Re: How to prevent control points in sky

this is my lightweight-"head" !!

it has a vertical rotator with 10 click-stops, that suits this spesific setup.
the horisontal rotator has 12 click-stops.

btw: it's for outdoor panoramas so precise parallax adjustments is not important.

Re: How to prevent control points in sky

Still on a manuall head so not using xml. I have made me a lightweight alternative to my VRdrive, based on Nodal Ninja pole rotator and foot plate. It is hardware set up for a 30mm FF eq lens and it makes full spheres. I have "reverse enginered" a XML-file for it. In that way the featurel...

Re: Scaling for lowres image on highres display [SOLVED]

Thanks for the tip, I will have a closer look at the link later. It's a cylinder. I have at least 100 panos that is cylinders, and most of the tours are made in previous PTP versions, not supporting HTML5. This tour is remade with Panotour Pro V2.1.3 and should be playable with flash as well as HTML...

Scaling for lowres image on highres display [SOLVED]

I have some old panos (10 years) where the image resolution is quite low. Lately I have experienced issues displaying this on my 2.5K res monitor. See cylinder example below. I'm worried that this issue will rapidly increase as people get 4K monitors.
Has anyone else seen this phenomena ?

Re: Which 85mm is best for Spheres??

The first thing to do at the VRdrive2 is to enter the cameras and their specifics. The sensor size in millimeters, nothing else. For shooting in FF it should be easy: x=36.0mm by y=24.0mm. I'm not able to see how it is possible to get it wrong.
The example below is for my Sigma DP2 Quattro.

Re: Which 85mm is best for Spheres??

It's no problem to reduce the number of images in a sphere at the VRdrive2, just reduce the overlap. I've played with the percentage and the image below shows the shooting pattern using a 50mm eq lens, 18% horizontal and 18% vertical overlap. Resulting in 70 images to cover the sphere.
