Hi everyone,

I just wanted to let you know that I got it up and running!

The problem was that one of the units was burnt, and the cabling was causing problems. (surprize!)

Thanks for all your help and I'm looking forward to shooting some panos this weekend!

Ok, thanks for the precisions. I think your module is OK, as it works if you send him commands on the USB side. The original remote controller has its 'Set' and 'Go' button flashing when it detect a problem (no or bad answer from the head). Does it work whithout the usb-rs232 module connected? If i...

Wally, could you try to do this: 1) connect both your usb-serial cable and the original remote controller to the head 2) while the head is off, run this piece of code: import sys import serial s = serial.Serial("/dev/tty.usbserial-A20e274n") while True: c = s.read() if c == '\r': sys.stdout.write('...

Yes, It is normal to read back what the controller send to the head. But you should also read the head answer. If it does not answer, it means that it does not understand the comand. It can be: 1) a wiring problem 2) a serial config problem First double-check the wires. Is the GND connected? The wi...

Sorry, use this code: import serial import time s = serial.Serial("/dev/tty.usbserial-A20e274n") s.write(":F1\r") time.sleep(1) print repr(s.read(s.inWaiting())) s.write(":a1\r") time.sleep(1) print repr(s.read(s.inWaiting())) I still see the echoing with the unit off, and the same thing with the u...

As I understand, you tried pyserial from a python shell? With such usb-serial converter, I don't think you have to set teh baudrate; Papywizard should be able to do that using the serial module. As RD and WR are wired together, you have an echo back. Can you try the following code: import serial s ...

Hi Wally416, Welcome on board ! FIRST AT ALL before you continue your trials, please check your wiring ! For a adaptor like the one you have buy (BT/USB), only the ground and the signals wires should be connected and NOT the V+, indeed the power is delivered to the module by the PC/MAC. There is a ...

Do you have the serial port set correctly?

I can see that the 9600 is set as a contant in the code, so I'm guessing that the application sets it for me. Is this not the case? And if not, how do you set it in OSX?

Thanks...

Axis 1 can't send command - wired connection to Mac 10.5.6, Papy 2.1.5

Hi everyone, I am looking forward to getting my Merlin mount running with Papywizard. I am getting closer, but have run into trouble. I have connected this board to USB and have tested the connections which all seem ok: http://www.robotshop.ca/droids-sas-usb-serial-adapter.html The cabling has the c...

Hi everyone, I flipped through the user guide PDF for the new Orion GoTo Teletrack and there is no mention of the camera port at all. If you look at Figure 4b on page 3 in the URL below, you will see what looks like connection port but it isn't labelled. Could that be a camera port and now it isn't ...
