I use the 357 on a personally modified crown. I completely fabbed mine with a drill press. I took the crown off, put a bolt through it and mounted it in a drill press. I then took a hacksaw blade, screwed it into a block of wood that held the blade at the depth of the crown that I wanted to cut off,...

Panduino Closed Loop possible?

So i was thinking that the panduino option (using the micromaestro servo board) has some empty channels, and they are valid inputs as well as drives. What Im thinking is would it be possible to monitor the hot shoe for the camera to trigger so that papywizard can confirm that a photo was actually ta...

Well that proves that the camera and cable are good. Is the shutter set for Merlin-orion? (Hardware/plugins/shutter?) If so in the same tab and the drivers is the serial/bluetooth set as appropriate? what is the time value in configuration/plugins/shutter configure time value? maybe try a longer val...

with the cable connected to the camera, touch the tip to some metal part on the camera, like the lugs that hold the straps, the tripod socket, or the flash mount edges. That should trip the camera if the cable is good.

Ok, last question before I call it a night.. If I run a preset, it wants to start at the 0/0 position and runs out of room (servo motion) in 1 direction... It doesnt split the difference, just starts at 0/0. If I rotate left more than 280 degrees, then set the reference, then it runs fine. Is that t...

excellent job on 2.1.19! I can actually dial in the neutral position with precision, and the reverse yaw setting holds and everything runs from the "merlin normal" setting (camera pitch servo on the right, and all controlls and direction feel like a merlin) not that this is important, but to me I go...

nice implementation, I see that the angles and aluminum allow for a more compact head.

What are you using for the bluetooth to usb interface? Couldnt make it out in the pics.

Thanks,

Steve

Yes, it decelerates as it approaches the target point, and this causes more delay than is necessary, the coasting is about twice as slow as is necessary, Since I have to allow for the deceleration, I have the stabilization higher than necessary, which slows doen the operations and then bracketed sho...

I measured the servos GDP985A-BM which are 450 degree rotation & 8.6:1 and I get accurate results with the setting at about 450. coincidence that it is the same as the servos rated rotation? Chose those servos for their weight ability, and speed.

If panduino = micromaestro then yes for me as well! That enables the N810 with host cable to go direct?? Ive been looking at netbooks to take to the field, but if this allows the N810 to do it then yessir, no serial conversions etc... Being I also bought the micro maestro then Im for testing that la...

changes 2.1.15-16-17 using pololu servo questions

2.1.15 has the right terminology for servo setup, and channel choices but for me driving a pololu serial servo board it "fails" at shooting 2.1.16 works, uses different terminology at the servo settings but works, except that it wont hold the reverse setting, everything else stays and the yaw is opp...

I am using the serial pololu controller, http://www.pololu.com/catalog/product/727 but also own the micro maestro usb controller, I figured that it was the same protocol, and if not that frederic would eventually switch or add it to the plugins. Its smaller and a cleaner install. It doesnt work yet,...

Initial Testing and observations Papy-Merlin vs Papy-Pololu Servo

I did some direct comparisons between my Papy+Merlin and my Papy-Pololu Servo head and am more than pleased with the progress. Price comparision has the two different heads really not that far apart, the merlin plus bluetooth plus crown mods is about $100 US less than a Pololu servo head with serial...

2.1.15-1 has channel numbers in the servo so I'll try that later today, 2.1.16 is working, but 2.1.15 may be a keeper as it is "easier" with the channel numbers to reconfigure. I was aware of the deceleration but assumed that it was part of the pololu or your programming, and I agree it is more shal...

Is there a particular version where this change took place so I know which one to go back to? Curently using 2.1.16-1 which does have a pololu servo choice in the plugin, just no channel choice etc. Is there an issue with the current one remembering forward/reverse? It appears that the speed actuall...

Just not sure of the 0-360 range or -180 180 range like merlin, but THis is working at range of -360 +360 so that it works in presets and mosaics I have the speed running at around 80 degrees per second, and the stabilization delay at 3.5sec, this seems to allow the head to coast down, and be stable...

Ok, so Im obviously figuring this out by poking around. I set the speed at 53 degrees per second as per the rating of the servo I set the neutral at 1500 as normal for a servo, I set the limits at -0and 360 for yaw and -180 and 180 for pitch and all presets run. I set the angle for 1ms at 460 degree...

Ok, so yaw servo should apparently be servo 1, and pitch servo 2, so shutter is 0? Also still rotating way to far using the presets as an easy test what should be a 90 degree yaw rotate is >270 degrees... Also no real tech specs on teh dimensionengineering picoswitch, so any sugges?tions for initial...
