Merlin: crazy noise from the lower motor

Hello, My lower motor does make crazy noise when moving horizontal. The seller means that this is normal after some time and I should have a look at the price of this device. Does anybody have some similar problems with the merlin? Is there a possibility of getting spareparts for the motor or replac...

I have updated my system with new functions. Now I added the functionality to also use the merlin for "normal" gigapixel images. you can define a start and end point and the merlin calculates the positions between automatically and drives to these positions. The focal length range to enter is 5 to 9...

Okay here are some more information from my side about the projekt. There is the wiring diagramm with fritzing. I hope it's understandable. Otherwise just ask me. And here is the first version of the sourcecode including the library I use for the merlin communication. I did modify the Merlin_Mount l...

I have got an other system running that can handle the merlin for Gigapixel images. This one is handled by a display and 5 buttons. The user can change the focal length, the exposuretime of the camera. It is possible to set start and stop position like papywizard can to and the arduino will drive au...

Hello,

Why part list? There is only:

1 x Arduino Uno
5 x Pushbuttons
2 x LEDs
4 x 220Ohm resistor for the LEDs and Merlin connection

ArduSphere <- PapySphere for Arduino

Hello everybody, I want to introduce the new project I'm working at. It is called ArduSphere. It is an Arduino based on PapySpheric to capture full 360x180 images with a Merlin panohead At the moment I have ported the PapySpheric code to the Arduino and can run full panoramas with optimized number o...

Accu for Merlin and Gigapixel

Hello,

Does anybody of you use the Merlin for gigapixel images with a accu or batteries?
What kind of batteries do you use and how many?

Regards
Stefan

I don't want to shoot spherical panos with the merlin. I will just use it for outside gigapixel images. I thought the gigapan uses landscape mode so this must have a reason.
For shooting and stitching there should be no difference between both modes when shooting gigapixel images or I'm wrong?

I just wanted to ask you if you prefer to use the camera in portrait or landscape mode?

Maybe you could discripe why you us it that way.

Thanks

Hello Claude,

The Merlin version is the newest one from your homepage.
The connection is wired via a USB-RS232 converter and the SynScan AZ.
Papywizard is running on a Acer Aspire One with Windows 7 Starter.

I tested everything on 2 PCs. One running version 2.0 and the other version 2.1.20

Only on the 2.1.20 I see this offset problem.

I ran both systems with the same number of images and the same lens options and co.

Imageposition not static

Hello, I the moment I'm testing Papywizard with my Merlin. I always have problems with the positions the merlin is driver to. After each line there is an offset to the left position. That means I start maybe at 50degree and after the next line the merlin moves to 45degree and so on for each line. th...

The instructions given by to way of several controlers (e.g. a PC and a hand controler) will be...

Do you know any possibility to check if the rx/tx connection is still okay in the merlin and I did not destroy it? Is it okay if I can connect to the merlin using the SynScan AZ and the merlin on a PC?
If it is okay I have to check my Arduino, I want to use to control the merlin instead of a PC.

Now it seams that there is 5V between the signal wire and the ground. Is this normal when using batteries?

Okay. The question is:

Is it normal that there is +9V between the RX/TX wire and the Ground when I plug in a cable into the HC port and power on the merlin.

+9V on RX/TX ??

Hello. Today I started my Merlin and something strange happened. Now I can measure +9V betweet RX/TX and ground. Is this correct? Because my Arduino also could not communicate with the merlin. The SynScan AZ is working without any problems. Also Papywiz via SynScan AZ and rs232 is running.

Okay there is an update with my project. The merlin received today and about 20 minutes later he was moving by commands from the Arduino. At first I did try the example programm. Now I'm going to start to implement the whole Merlin stuff into my Arduino universal-function-device. :D
