Interface and camera connection

Bigwade, thanks for the instructions to upload the image file. Here is a shot of how I soldered for a tethered connection. I followed SJHenry's instructions: Telephone wire Pin# USB TTL (From Merlin) (From PC) 1 (NW) 2 (GND)---------------->1 (Black - GND) 3 (NU) 2 (NU) 4 (NU) 3 (NU) 5 (TTL)------22...

I invite you to ask him. Michael did not object to posting of his response: I’m sorry but, unfortunately, I do not have time to contribute to this project. Camera controller is a hobby for me and I am currently too busy with consulting engagements and my day job to give your project the attention...

Now I am confused... How do you connect the Mac to the Merlin , tethered ? Cable/drivers/set-up/screenshots ? Wade, that is what I am trying to figure out. I am not sure if I have a driver issue, a Papywizard configuration issue, of if I simply did not solder the connections correctly. BTW, how doe...

So several users have reported the software running under OS 10.5. However, has anyone been able to communicate with the hardware via the tethered connection? If so, what were you're "Hardware" settings in the "Configuration" window?

I second the request for Olympus E-Series camera support;) Michael Cochran has developed software for controlling Olympus cameras: http://www.pinetreecomputing.com/camctl.asp A bracketed add-on can be found here: http://www.pinetreecomputing.com/camctl_snapins.asp Perhaps he would be willing to rewr...

Pine Tree Computing offers camera control software for Olympus cameras: http://www.pinetreecomputing.com/camctl.asp Olympus Studio also offers control, but it would probably be difficult to get Olympus to adapt their software for PW. However, a developer SDK can be downloaded: http://developer.olymp...

Paul, thanks for catching bad link. For some reason, "preview" of posts on this forum doesn't show links. I'll have to be more careful. Klaus, yes it could be accomplised in post-processing. However, would you have to have a much larger image to crop from. Memory can be a problem with longer time la...

Yes, traveling along a path. You can see it in the video link I provided. Software isn't necessary with the telescope mounts such as the Meade DS-2114ATS-TC Tripod. The motion of the mount can be control with the tethered hand-held controller. A time lapse remote shutter release is used for camera c...

Paul, It seems the wired option you listed is a cheap one, particularly for US based users. If I have a PC (w/Windows XP), Merlin, shutter release cable, USB cable, two resistors (2x 220 Ohm), Papywizard, and the converter, is there anything else I would need to have a functional PW/Merlin? If so, h...

MediaVets, thanks, it is great to be here. I just received a Merlin yesterday and I have to try and figure out how to set-up before a ski trip on 2/26/09. Probably won't happen but it would be great if it could. I like the interface for the Photo to iMovie in the provided link. I will have to think ...

jriley,

If you are able to figure this out, perhaps you could capture an onscreen video of the set-up process using freeware such as Jing http://www.jingproject.com/ so us intimidated users can set it up:)

Cheers!

Paul, Thanks for the great info here. I have an E-1 I am going to try something similar to this with. Frédéric, My interest in timelapse is what brought me to this forum as the Merlin has the potential to do both panoramic and panning timelapse. The Timelord software is interesting in that it allows for multiple exposures for HDR. Unfortunately is it only compatible with Nikon and I have invested in...
