Need a new head...

Hi All, Been awhile since I've done any gigapixel photography, let alone surfed through the forums. My second Merlin Head burned out a motor, first one arrived with numerous issues and with other things in life going on I put it to rest for awhile. Anyway, was hoping to get back in to shooting some ...

Frederick, I love you and I hate you! And I wasn't quite picking up what media was saying after a couple of drinks at the bar mitzvah...sounded like you were repeating what I just said when I read it earlier. I set com 3 on both....after an email from frederick it hit me it started from 0 and had to...

At a family party thing ... it defaulted to 3 which I set in papiwizard then I tried changing to 4 which didn't help. Still says trying to connect but never does. Was wondering if I need a higher port maybe...but I thought modems used 3back in my NBA days which I don't think any other devices are us...

The netbook I have to use doesn't have Bluetooth but that's plan b. I'd prefer to use USB as the head runs faster. Resisters should be OK...unless there's a good reason for them to blow on the plane. Should I be using a particular com PORT? IVE tried 3 and 4

FTDI USB Cable

First I'd like to voice my extreme dislike for this head...everything seems to be an issue everytime I need to use it. On the otherhand I'd also like to thank the community here for how helpfull you've all been the last two years. I had to get out of town in the midsts of a bit of a disaster...had t...

Make sure you are not running Widcom or another stack. do a search for microsoft bluetooth stack on google, sorry I have the link at home on ...

Oh, sorry... Here are the cables for different cameras. The Canon one is working and I don't see why the others won't. It's for a remote trigger actually but here are the cables. CL-E3 - Canon rebels CL-N3 - Canon xD, and x0D cameras CL-DC0 - Nikon Dx, and Dx00, and the Fuji F DSLR's CL-S1 - Sony, a...

Finally arrived and doesn't seem to have the serial port noise issue of the first head..actually while it may be the same head it feels a bit more solid. Looking forward to making some new gigapixel images.

Suppose this can handle the weight of my 300 2.8/2x tc?

Thanks...need something next week, no time to mess around with it and risk not having one :) Will see what I can do to fix it, but the fact the garbled noise issue it cane with in the beginning bugs me to no end and had created so many other problems. Have it for parts at least.

Thanks Claud, so the one I posted is ok then? Odd I have to pay less to not have a telescope :(

the batteries exploded in the old head, and it wouldn't turn on. I replaced the battery holders hoping maybe something was wrong there but it's just dead.

New Merlin

This looks like the best price I've seen so far... is this the right head? Is it possible to buy one without a telescope? http://www.buy.com/prod/skywchr-sw-80ars-mm-80mm-rfrctr-motr-mt/q/sellerid/11981947/loc/111/211116888.html Looks like my other one finally bit the dust. Future of Papywizard?

I was just curious as to the future of Papywizard considering the recent Nokia pact with microsoft, and there moving away from Meego/Symbian? I mean does it really pay to continue developing with the QT Library as the basis for the interface? Will it be ported to Windows Phone 7?

Buying a Orion Merlin in the USA

Was wondering if these were still available...thought it odd that Kolor is now selling them but they are discontinued according to most of the sites in the autopano wiki. Needless to say, batteries exploded in mine, and the unit appears stone dead even having replaced the battery holders. Is this th...

LOL...you can ask I didn't even think about that. :) Actually there were no clouds at all when I started. An hour into it as I started to reach the sky there were some nice poofy ones...then suddenly the mountain was covered in fog. Some of the taller mountains make there own weather patterns and th...

Mount Katahdin, only 12gigapixels

I'm amazed to see the size of the images that came out in the past few months... just as I'm starting to get good at this ;) Mount Katahdin is the northern end of the Appalachian Trail...this is shot from Sandy Stream Pond in Baxter State Park in Maine. I do not see any banding in the photos...I've done three other panos with the same setup over the last year or so with no issues like this. Images were shot at f11, not wide open...which still wasn't enough DOF over that deep of a landscape but that's another issue :) I think those tests are done wi...
