Re: Install of deb fails, README.dpkg-new not found

Note that full uninstall and reinstall fixed, but once again you have to re-register and re-set all your preferred settings (just as you also need to do while upgrading, something I have found an annoyance.)

Install of deb fails, README.dpkg-new not found

Trying to install 4.4.0 over 4.2.3 dpkg: error processing archive AutopanoGiga_Linux64_440_2017-03-25.deb (--install): unable to open '/usr/lib/AutopanoGiga/Resources/Translation/README.dpkg-new': No such file or directory This is on kubuntu xenial. Re: I have over 3,000 unstitched panos. How best to preview

Any other suggestions? It seems to me a couple of simple command line options on APG might be quite easy to implement. Examples could include: a) A simple way to specify a group of photos to process -- either providing a folder, a set of filenames, or just an autopano APW workspace file which contai...

Re: I have over 3,000 unstitched panos. How best to preview

I don't have Adobe Bridge, but my brief reading of that plugin does not suggest it would do this. Doesn't run on Linux anyway, does it?

I have over 3,000 unstitched panos. How best to preview?

I shoot a lot of panos. And of late I just have not had time to build them all. I have over three thousand panos I have shot in the last few years on my disk. Each one is sitting as a collection of images in its own folder. (I wrote a tool that goes through my photos and looks for strings of images ...

Re: APG on Ubuntu Wily 15.10, wants libicui18n.so.52

Also, while this worked, once again it forgot all my settings. I know it does this on major version upgrades but it should not, an definitely not on minor version upgrades. Or perhaps you can work out a more portable format to store settings in.

Re: APG on Ubuntu Wily 15.10, wants libicui18n.so.52

Understood. Though generally it looks like APG may be doing its bindings too tightly, since most programs are capable of running on newer releases if they are designed and tested on an older release. I would strongly suggest to Kolor that the most common and probably best way to support Ubuntu is wi...

APG on Ubuntu Wily 15.10, wants libicui18n.so.52

I just upgraded to the latest Ubuntu (15.10 wily werewolf) on AMD64 and also upgraded my APG to 4.23. Unfortunately it fails to start, saying: AutopanoGiga: error while loading shared libraries: libicui18n.so.52: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory On the system there is libicu...

Re: [Linux AMD64 APG3.5b2] Forgets all prior settings, bad f

Actually, it's in a directory called Kolor, but I found it. These days, I advise a new design pattern for config files. There, you split configuration information based on who generates it. That generated by the user goes into its own section or file, and it supersedes information pre-configured, ge...

Re: [Linux AMD64 APG3.5b2] Forgets all prior settings, bad f

Ah. I might suggest storing them in an xml that can be portable over versions. You could even, on version change, read the old setttings once and write out a new one, importing what you can, forgetting what you must.

[Linux AMD64 APG3.5b2] Forgets all prior settings, bad font

Just trying out the new APG3.5B2 on Kubuntu saucy. It did not import any settings from APG3, including the activation code, most recent files edited, directories -- everything. It was like a fresh install. It is using a strange font in the menus and other text -- a very blocky, 8x8 bitmap sort of fo...

[linux amd64 APG 3.08] Regularly crashing bringing up edit window

Ok, so APG 3.08 looks unusuable, I have tried to build 3 panos and it's had a segfault just trying to load up the editing window after assembling the pano. Since these segfaults lose work and abort renders, the program is unusable. My previous version was 3.05 and I will revert to that if no other o...

Yes, I think with a bit more tweaking it will be a good 360 urban one. Of course, though we have not yet determined why the .pano file was written with files that were not in its layers, obviously a program should never dump core even with bad inputs, so I hope this helped you find the cause of the ...

Well, I don't know what put the extra files into the .pano, but I extracted the filenames of the real files in the pano, and did another detect on them. This time it worked and I was able to do a render. Paris 1 gigapixel (almost) 360 degrees: http://pic.templetons.com/cgi-bin/imget?f=brad/pano/fran...

That's odd. When I load the pano there are no unlinked images. At least that it shows me. The layer editor shows only starting at 1980 in the improved one. As Indicated, my process consisted of detecting from the collection of images shot from the tower, and starting the first round of improvement o...

Ok, I have a new dump file starting with 753f, and a new paris tower pano file in the ftp server. This .pano is pretty much what was generated by doing a detect on the large image collection.

No, the pano was generated the usual way from the image collection and a normal detect. I first built one with all the images, and it crashed. The one you see is the result of removing some redundant images because I wondered if they were the cause of the crash, but no, it still happens. I can also ...

Sure, it is the paris tower file. It's on the way up. Admittedly this is an unusual tower, shot from the Montparnasse tower, with lots of possible parallax errors while going around the top. However, it should not seg fault of course.

Thanks. Still fails. Dump report gets generated -- dialog box that pops up is a bit confusing as you don't really want to do any of the 3 things it says. If you close it the program just sits there hung until you kill it, and then it dumps core. Anyway, I have the dmp file and it is uploaded to inco...

I explained. I shoot a pano on a pano head. Images are generally evenly spaced -- often exactly evenly spaced though of course there can be minor error -- and all have the same rotation. As I said, even strong heads like the Nodal Ninja I use will bend slightly so they are not completely vertical wh...

Actually, while I would like a manual Horizon tool to fix when APP is not maping it right, I even more want an option to say "I shot this on a tripod and/or pano head." What this means is APP would strongly resist any solution where the images are not all tilted the same relative to one another. Wit...

Seg fault persists in APG3B2 on Kubuntu AMD64. It is immediate on beginning any scaled down render, takes about a minute on a non-scaled down render. I ran it in gdb, but for some reason even though this is a beta there are no debugging symbols so this is not likely to be that useful. [Thread debugg...

Jpeg input and output in both cases here. The right UI is a bit hard to decide. After all, it seems odd to caption just one image of a panorama collection, though that's probably the easiest UI to set up. Because I often shoot overlaps and duplciates, I also find myself sometimes deleting images her...
