Wow, that sounds amazing. If Josef's head could do that--and if panorama times for quality mode were comparable--I would buy Josef's head in a heartbeat.

I'm looking to make a purchase this week, basically. This is a hard decision to make.

It's not a fight at all, and there's no conflict. Based on the numbers I was provided previously, I have gathered that I can use speed mode on either head to shoot panoramas with a 50mm lens at a shutter speed of 1/8000 and have a result that is acceptable (ie. an acceptable amount of smear). But ba...

Would it be possible for the speed of the speed mode on Josef's head to be adjustable? If speed mode could operate at 66%--or in some cases, 25%--of its current speed, it would be extremely useful for me.

Okay, I understand what you're saying in regard to the questions. If the Roundshot VR Drive 2 were to shoot the same panoramas in the same manner (with the 15, 25, and 85 primes, respectively; with 20% overlap, with bracketing as well; and with the the same amount of stabilization time for each shot...

It would be awesome if there were a two-column table comparing the key features of each device in a simple graphical form. It could include times to create panoramas for each head as well. That might save some of the questions; it's hard to dig through all of the responses on here to get a feel for ...

Max shutter speed on the camera I would be using is 1/8000.

Thank for bearing with me guys. Is there anywhere that I could read about the shutter speed requirements for speed mode on the VR Drive Gen 2?

Thanks,
Devin

I will not be doing full spheres either. I will be doing mosiacs, of, say, 50 degrees by 30 degrees max. The reason I said it was significantly slower was because of what I gathered from this post: "Canon 1D Mark IV and 15 mm Fish eye VR drive 2: 6 second rotation time = 1/1500 shutter speed or fast...

I will be shooting at f/1.2 with the 58mm f/1.2 and 85mm f/1.2 lenses.
I will be shooting at f/2.0 with the 300mm lens.
I will be using a full-frame camera with good high-iso performance. (Comfortable with shooting up to ISO 1600)

Hopefully that helps a little more.

So in other words, it's significantly slower with wider lenses. Did the panorama with the IV Mark IV have same configuration as with Josef's head (10 pics, 5 in two rows)? What would the difference be with a 50mm, 85mm, and 300mm lens? Also, to the person who asked if it would need speed mode on bot...

Klaus,

My project requires it.

How much would it cost for him to implement for a user?

When implemented, would the speed mode be faster than that of the Roundshot VR Drive Gen 2?

Thanks,
Devin Brines

VR Drive Gen II Price List Help

One question: I'm looking at the Price list located here: http://www.roundshot.ch/xml_1/internet/de/application/d438/d927/f1033.cfm 1) The Roundshot VR Drive "full" is listed at $3,589. Under it, Quality+Speed Mode (which I want) is listed at $328. On page 2, Quality+Speed for "full" is listed at $3...

Getting back to the Roundshot or even Josef's head, using lens' such as the 300mm 2.8 or larger, are they able to hold them still with no slack or slip? on a Nikon D3 or Canon 1D Henrik Definitely yes - i tested a Nikon f4/600mm on a D3x (together about 7kg) without any problem on Josef´s head. Yo...

Can anyone confirm that the VR Drive Gen 2 is big enough to still put a lens that is 325mm long x 180mm wide on its nodal point with the use of the longer nodal rail? Thank you! I guess you´re talking of a tele-lens? Forget about a precise NPP - as long as you shoot at long distance . . which you ...

One more thing--will I need the HDR upgrade for xml support? I'm not sure why this would be the case, but they were announced as if they were a packaged bundle. I'm hoping this isn't the case.

I will be buying the VR Drive II now that it supports xml files! But I have one question: on the order page for the item, it lists the "Roundshot VR Drive full with quality + speed mode." Does that include everything I need? 1. Do I need the longer nodal rail (220mm) for big lenses? I will be using ...

Hey guys, I'm looking to move 8kg of weight with this head, and my plan is, to create panoramas, shoot columns instead of rows--which would mean more up and down movement than left and right. For this, will it be problematic that the Y-motor on the head is so much weaker than the X-motor? Any advice...

Maybe Josef is measuring torque after the gearing. 4 newtonmeter is a lot. The motor in a small car has a torque in the range 50-100 Nm. Leif Thanks for the info, VR Studio! Do you suppose the VR Drive 2's was measured before the gearing? Would that mean the VR Drive 2 would have a higher Newtonmet...
